I'm headed down (from DFW) for a bachelor party. I've got most of Friday to kill until the rest of the group gets in so I'm debating between going to the NOLA Brewing Anniversary event or just chilling at Avenue Pub (which I've visited once before and loved). We will be staying in the Garden District, so both are walkable. Any sage advice for a visiting Texan?
I don't know what time you are coming in, but I don't think the NOLA tap room typically opens until 2pm on Fridays. Although their hours may be different due to the Anniversary party. Hell it's NOLA, hit both! Start at Avenue and then head to the NOLA taproom once they are open.
NOLA's anniversary event starts at 4, but I've heard they're capping at 500ish people, so there's a chance it will be sold out. If I were you, I'd call NOLA beforehand and maybe start there and finish at the Pub. They've tapped some great stuff following Mardi Gras! If you get a chance to grab a bottle (try Stein's), I highly suggest Parish Ghost in the Machine. A fabulous new local Double IPA.
You can still buy tickets to the NOLA 5th anniversary on Eventbright. Hopefully that works out better for NOLA than Hunapocalypse did for CCB. https://www.eventbrite.com/e/five-years-of-beers-tickets-10663347359
Thanks! Im leaving crescent city brewhouse now (love the pils) then avenue pub, and ill be the guy with the black backpack and gray southern star shirt at the NOLA party!
