I am being tossed into the fray this weekend for my bachelor party. Despite the obvious traditional expectations: I am hoping as a brewery staff member of a nano-brewery in the Northeast and avid beer nerd that I could get some advice as to where the best craft brew spots are. I have reached out to a few breweries and one bar but....what do you guys think!! I am NOT trying to be an annoying tourist this weekend. Maybe a slightly annoying visitor at worst. A visitor who is trying to bring down four 32oz growlettes of our wares..... Cheers!
Check out this thread, it has a lot of info in it: http://www.beeradvocate.com/community/threads/beer-guide-to-visiting-new-orleans.130294/
Avenue Pub was gracious enough to email me back. With any luck their staff might just have landed a growler of fine SE CT double IPA as a reward. Please, Dear Lord, don't let my growlettes leak or break en route. You know I don't ask for much!!!!!
Courtyard Brewery just opened up as a small nano brewery that is probably worth checking out. I haven't had any of their beers yet, but I've seen good feedback
I was there this last weekend. my buddy who lives down there took us and said the ipas were awesome. They only had 3 of their beers on tap but they were tasty. They also have about 16 taps from tons of breweries around the country and some bottles too. Def recommend it
They got back to me as well. They mentioned taping the caps....hope that trick works! It is almost enough to make me wish we had plastic growlers.....almost.....
Check to see if Ghost in the Machine is still on tap and Stein's is a pretty good bottle shop if you're looking for stuff that's not found in the CT market.
Stop by Courtyard on Saturday and get arguably the best pizza in NOLA and definitely the best pizza you'll ever get out of a short bus. Scott has a few of his own stuff on, but he's playing around right now so not any one brew consistently. The rest of his tap list is usually very good and he doesn't charge more than $6/glass.
Freaking wild stuff man. Great city of food, drink, and frivolity. My only regret was that I had to fly home to this weather/I didn't have time to pack beers from NOLA and Courtyard.
Yeah Courtyard was a complete blast. Reminds me of our little nano-brewery in a way. I will go back there whenever I get a chance.
