Will be in New Orleans this weekend (Friday-Sunday) for my buddy's bachelor party. I've done a search and looked on seekabrew; but I want to know what you guys think in terms of the local brews to try and perhaps even a store to pick up some good stuff to share with the rest of the wedding party.. perhaps some Prairie stuff. Do you guys have any recommendations to be made?

We will probably stay not far from Bourbon Street of course, so we'd be in the more touristy areas. And on Saturday we'll be on a fishing boat on the bayou so recommendations for local canned goodies are always welcome!

Steins deli is as good as it is probably going to get for buying beer from a store. They have a room in the back of the place designated specifically for beer; and its an awesome deli so you should grab a bite there. They have a few Prairie offerings as well.

For locals, NOLA mechahopzilla is a solid canned DIPA, but I probably wouldnt recommend it for a fishing day because of the ABV. NOLA and Tin Roof breweries have some good local low abv canned offerings though that you can find at most grocery/liquor stores. Parish Brewery has a farmhouse ipa that is very good as well and comes in a bottle. If you can find Parish Envie (pale ale) on tap, I highly recommend that brew as well.

Avenue pub in New Orleans is the best place to find great beer on tap. It's not far off bourbon street and is open 24/7. If you can't get the boys to leave the tourist traps on bourbon street, catching a cab over one morning/afternoon will be worth your while.

In the quarter, your best beer options will be Abita.
