CBS, King Henry, Hunahpu, Kate, and Beatification releases (just to name a few) virtually shut down the forum for people jot looking for the latest release. Should we have a trading subforum for new release ISO/FTs? That way they could be contained. Thoughts?

When is a new release not new anymore?

    month? 2 months?

wouldn't need to be strictly moderated either; it's not like posting in the normal ISO:FT ups your chances of being seen, or vice versa. it would just take some of the strain off. one or two misplaced ISOs wouldn't undermine the benefit.

It would mainly take care of the week before and after the release, when the flood begins.

Why do that? I don't get it... I didn't post looking for any of those fine brews, but I also don't mind having them on the regular ISO/FT forum so that I can see what things (crazy things albeit) are trading for. It doesn't hinder trading a 6 of Zombie Dust for a (insert brew here), so what does it matter?

i don't think it's an absolute necessity or anything, but it could be a helpful thing with minimal forum clutter. if it yielded lots of "what's 'new' anyway??" griping or got taken advantage of somehow it would definitely be more trouble than it's worth.

if the forums are often very active though, it's just 1 reasonably easy-to-maintain way of lightening the traffic and helping everyone. i mean, the reason "whale trading forum" can't work is that it's arguable what that would mean, but throwing up an arbitrary time period wouldn't be too controversial.

tl;dr: i agree that the ISO:FT forum is fine as it is, but this, to me, sounds like an improvement that helps everyone, hurts no one, and requires almost no extra moderation at all.

Doesn't really matter to me. We'll all find what we need, new and exciting or not. I don't mind scrolling thru the trash I don't need to get to what I do need. It all comes down to having the right "thing" to make the trade happen after all.

People trading other beers kind of get shafted during a flood. Instead of being on the first page after a couple of hours they are thrown to page four or worse. They're not getting adequate face time.

Ahhh... I get it, kinda! I just don't usually go for a beer that just got released, because it just got released and I gotta dry hump the forum and tick it! I can see the point though. If I get a beer and get to try it right off the bat... cool, if not... whatever. It'll eventually come my way.

Forums are fine as they are... nothing is stopping anyone from clicking "next" a few times. Threads that don't get any response might just be offers that are not good enough?

Also, randomness. I have had people email me a couple days after. I am sure they clicked the next button a few times. Worked out well for me (and them hopefully).

I just look past them and keep looming until I see something that entices me to open the thread.

Me on the other hand, I open pretty much every thread. Even the "ISO List FT List" threads.

    I should get a real job :-/

Those entice me more than most others! If not for anything else, the hope of being able to crack wise at an auction-type post.
