The old Southwest forum, which included TX, didn't get much action. I'm guessing the other South forums didn't either, hence the merger.
Yes, I was a member of 3 of the previous regional forums this one became (Southwest, Southeast and Mid-Atlantic) due to having lived in states in those 3 regions in the past, so the consolidation into one big all-encompassing US-South region works for me too. They did something similar last year when they consolidated the various mostly-inactive continent forums into just a "Rest of the World" forum (which I had also been subscribed to multiple of due to having lived in both Africa and Asia), so I am guessing the merger was for the reasons @ilikebeer03 stated.
It seems the states of the former Southwest forum got split up between what is now the South and the West forum, so there may have been some confusion as things got shifted around.
