Good point. I work seasonally. I spent yesterday and today at Kern, cause I can. Not everyone sits at a desk M-F 9-5.

Tangential, but NPR had some interesting data yesterday on what percentage of the population is working at given times.

I think there would be some interesting demographic analysis to be done on the craft beer community and what subset of the community is going to midday releases, but very few breweries have any real motivation to do much in the way of demographic surveys as long as they're limited on the supply side rather than the demand side.

Ah, yes, you make a good point. In any case, it still kind of shocks me.

That's kind of immaterial to my point. Perhaps I should have phrased it differently. I used to have a job with hours all over the place, but I still had responsibilities, like showing up to work. I couldn't make it to a lot of beer festivals or anniversary parties because those are typically on the weekends. Now I work M-F and can't make it to a lot of releases, but I can make it to more parties/event. It's a give and take, and I'm not complaining, but rather expressing wonder and slight puzzlement. My point was that it seems like an inordinate number of the beer geek population have incredibly flexible schedules. Obviously, that's a generalization, and it may be a sort of "wish-casting" (i.e. me wishing I had such a flexible schedule to make it to every bottle release and event). I'm sure there are more fans of good beer that can't make it to every event, but sometimes it feels (perhaps incorrectly) like there's a huge contingent of people that can drop whatever they're doing and stand in line for hours.

Let me pose another theory: maybe the people that have more flexibility are also more likely to post on Beer Advocate. You certainly are not looking at a representative population here.

I can get up from my office chair and hit any release in san diego, I just need to promise to get my boss a bottle and make sure I am not on a call, dealing with an outage, or working a maintenance.

I bet a lot of beer people work in the beverage/bar industry and have flexible schedules or work at night. There are several factors.

I've been fortunate to have very hands off job situations, so it isn't too difficult for me to make an occasional run. It's a hell of a lot more difficult to get the Mrs. on board with me heading to evening events.

Perhaps you complete two separate transactions for one bottle each.

To retrieve your bottles, you will be required to show your proof of purchase (your Brown Paper Ticket), and valid ID.

    Guess just print order receipt?

Ughhhhhhhhh... I really don't want to go to Alpine because then I'll end up going to Viejas. I couldn't pass it up though.
