Yep, 100% agreed. Two Goats and Roosterfish have taken nice steps forward, as has Bacchus in Dryden. But much much of the rest of it--and there's quite a bit--isn't much to speak of.

I think good nature, three heads, and naked dove all produce solid beers. I have not been impressed with most of the two goats beers the last two times I went there.

I had a good one from Good Nature. Didn't think Naked Dove brews tasted close to any established style. As for Two Goats, try the Whiskey Richard (and make sure to have a ride home). Conditioned in barrels from Finger Lakes Distilling down the road.

Hmm...of any of the breweries mentioned Naked Dove beers are most representative of the styles, in my experience. Always clean and well executed.

This was last summer... not sure if things have changed since then.

The wife and I snuck down to Hazlenut Kitchen in Trumansburg for dinner last Monday night and their Two Goats draft was Whiskey Richard. It was unreal. Coupled with one of the most amazing dinners I have enjoyed while eating out in a LONG time, it made for an incredible overall experience. It made me REALLY want to head out to the brewery when I get a chance.

WTH... I've driven down to Ithaca for quick trips twice in the past two months and stopped by Hopshire both times. I never even knew Bacchus existed and now I see it was right on the way. BAH!

Richie Shallcross just made the jump from Ithaca to Bacchus, and his first beer with them (Flora's Fate) was the best Bacchus brew yet. Pretty excited to see what he'll be doing over there.

By the way, feel free to send a BM when you're coming to town.

I've been to Bacchus three time now and found it was closed with no cars in the lot-looks deserted. They badly needed a new brewer IMO. Hopshire needs an experienced brewer too- nice facility but beers need a more experienced hand. Rogues Harbor Brewing in Lansing needs help in a big way and Scale House Brewing located up behind Ithaca Coffee Triphammer location should just forget about it...Is Chapter house in Ithaca brewing again?? Also; Is Bandwagon still brewing in Ithaca ??

Chapter House hasn't brewed in 15 years, give or take... sold the equipment and put in pool tables. Bandwagon is still going.

Interesting, went there twice and was pretty disappointed - Looks like a nice setup, but definitely agree they needed a brewer. We'll give them another try.

I know, I'm the worst. One trip was work-related and the other was an anniversary trip with the wife. Hopefully next time I'll be less obligated and take you up on that, haha.
