I've been drinking craft beer for only a year now and have recently moved to the midwest. Does anyone have recommendations as to the major beer events and beers I should look out for?
If you look through the forums, the events/beers that carry the most interest in the Midwest (and elsewhere, I suppose) would be those with the highest number of views, for the most part. By this standard - anything Goose Island makes that starts with the letter B, Three Floyds, Pipeworks, anything that says 'Barrel Aged' or some variant thereof, and festivals and events where anything with the word Bourbon or Sour is highlighted would be things that carry additional weight in the Midwest region.
Lansman has good suggestions, but since you said 'Midwest' you may want to see whether your state of residence is a Great Lakes state or a Midwest state, which has a separate forum. The various events that are discussed in these forums that are closer to where you live will mean less travel. You can also click on the Events tab at the top of the page here on the BA site and filter a search to your specific state Or you can follow the Beer Releases forum to see what brewery releases are upcoming.
