I just moved to the area from Alabama and wanted to know of some good spots to eat/drink/relax. I know there is a list of places to go in the city on this site, but I wanted to hear from people directly. Anything beer related or any worth while activities - I'm open to all suggestions.

If you're here for a while, tick that list!

Boston has a lot to offer, keep in mind that prices are some of the highest in the US. These places are a good start:

    Row 34
    Deep Ellum
    Cambridge Brewing
    Lord Hobo
    Mead Hall
    Harpoon Brewery
Bukowski's Boston (cash only) & Cambridge

Trillium is a must if you are looking for beer to go.

Go to Trillium and stock up for home, then proceed to Row 34 and drink Trillium until you get your fill. Repeat as needed.

To echo the above, Trillium all day long. Honestly the best stuff around.

I'd add Publick House and Sunset Grill and Tap to Jason's list above (Publick House is technically in Brookline, but in the same way that Lord Hobo is in Cambridge). I'm happy to grab a beer at either of the above establishments and chat!

Share where you'll be and you'll get better tips on your hood. I think finding your local spots is as important as the bigger stuff. Welcome!

Not in the Boston, but if you have work or travel by Worcester while in MA then I'd suggest Armsby Abbey

Repeat as needed? More like repeat as long as your wallet can afford it...

Row 34- meh. Tap lines running directly from Trillium but as far as I see but no reason to be there unless you love Trillium
Deep Ellum -meh. Reasonable tap list but dearly overpriced. Not exactly a destintination for the night.
Cambridge Brewing -yes, try them, and try something unusual (maybe a gruit). Their strength is outside the norm.
Lord Hobo - they offer half-off gift certificates through Goupon-esque sites. Great Tap list, excellent value at half the price.
Mead Hall - great events (tap takeovers, etc) otherwise solid tap list but a "distinct" Kendall Sq clientelle
Harpoon Brewery -Good pretzels. Shame about the beer.
Bukowski's Boston (cash only) & Cambridge - Ask them what "pay-to-play" means.
Trillium is a must if you are looking for beer to go. - Trillium is a must if you are looking for beer to trade. Drinking? You'll have to decide.

Visit Idle Hands/Enlightenment and Mystic taprooms.

And be prepared for daytrips to Portland ME and Greensboro Bend VT.

Must suck to be you ...

@Jacurdy60 don't get drawn into this kind of vocal minority rabble. Find your own way, locals are here to help. Day Trips are great if you don't mind wear on the car / burning $10-20 in gas each run. Your are better off doing an overnighter in VT or Portland ME so you can properly hit some of the tap rooms up there.

Being you are in Medford check out Night Shift as well, I'm not a fan of all of their beers but they have been improving and they also have a pretty kickass tap room.

    Welcome to the area!

I am a huge fanboy of Trillium, especially for their hoppy selections, but I have to recommend you check out Night Shift brewing as well. They definitely pull off some tasty sours and push the envelope for experimental brews, sometimes with awesome results, sometimes not so much. But for a BA it is totally worth the trip. Bonus that it's in Everett a town over from you, double bonus that you can bring your own food to the brewery.

What places in Boston normally have Trillium on draft or bottles?

Are you serious right now? You're honestly trying to tell me that nothing besides trillium is interesting on the Row 34 tap/bottle list. Then you have the audacity to suggest that trillium isn't worth drinking?
