So I am in the process of moving to Texas from Michigan. I am looking for good breweries in Texas (besides JK) I am very big into juicy IPAs and big stouts like everyone else!
Any suggestions on breweries in the DFW or anywhere is the great state of Texas??

Fort Worth (my neck of the woods):
Collective Brewing Project -Sour & Funky
Martin House - Multiple styles of beer
Rahr Brewing - Traditional style beers

    Dallas:
    Lakewood
    Peticolas
    Community

All have a great standard portfolio

    Best IPAs in Texas:
Distro- Lone Pint Yellow Rose (Magnolia near Houston) and St. Arnold Art Car
Non Distro - Any IPA from Pinthouse Pizza (Austin)

    Best Barrel Aged-
    St. Arnold's Bishop's Barrel series

Just my initial thoughts. Tons of great breweries all around, so feel free to ask away!

If you go to Community one weekend hit up Texas Ale Project, right around the corner. If you go to Lakewood, hit up Oaks Highlands Brewery, within a mile and doing a very fine job

Sounds like your taste in IPA's is similar to mine. My favorite local DFW juicy IPA's are...
    Cedar Creek Dankasauras
    Deep Ellum IPA

And while these next two are not 'juicy', they are favs of mine and worth trying...
    Four Corners El Chignon
    Peticolas Thrilla

Alll of these but the last one are available in cans and can be found fresh pretty easily. Clearly, none of these are Treehouse like beers with great buzz. But they are the best of the locals IMO. Beyond DFW, I agree with FalconCount and say you must try Yellow Rose(Can be found pretty easily in DFW) and Pinthouse(must go to Austin).

Will let someone who knows stouts answer on that side of things.

Don't forget Noble Rey and Peticolas. All four of those breweries are in a two mile stretch. If you go across the Trinity you'll be at Four Corners too.

Didn't hit those when I was visiting up there so couldn't really comment about them

    If in Dallas:

Stouts - legio, BA legion, temptress and all the variants, Acheron, non Dallas but Texas: BB Hellfighter and its variants, vulgar display of power.

Juicy IPAs? Not many. Dankosaurus and then a must stop place, Braindead in Dallas. They recently did a DIPA (Galactic Federation of Might) that very closely resembled Creature Comfort's Cosmik Debris. Best IPA/DIPA from Texas outside of YR. its long gone by now, but I believe they're going to continue to experiment with similar beers.

Grapevine Brewery's Brewers Reserve DIPA is pretty delicious. I put it up there with the best in DFW for sure.

No shit? Good to know. I jumped the gun in assuming that it would already out. Last I had it was about a week and a half ago and the bar tend told me it was close to gone.

I had dankasaurus in Georgia, and it sadly didn't do it for me at all. Such a strong onion / garlic taste out of it. Not at all juicy (I was drinking a lot of Jai Alai there though...)

I'll give it another while as I will be in the DFW area in September.

I did not like it when I tried it my first time a couple years ago. Heard they reformulated and people buzzing about it. So I tried again and liked it. Plus they just got the dating thing worked out on their cans so you stand a much better chance of fresh now. It is not NE level juicy but one of the best local options in my opinion.

Hmmmmm I had it in late March, so thinking I might have already had the new recipe. Excuse to buy it again and give it another whirl.
