I moved to the South Shore of Massachusetts a little over a month ago and while I have found 2 places to buy good beer (one of them has one of the best selections I have ever seen; Lukes Liqours, Rockland, Ma) I have been having trouble finding real craft beer bars in my area.

Is there anyone in the area that can recommend some spot?

    Thanks

my top choice is granite liquors in weymouth. maybe a mile or so off exit 16 on Middle Street. awesome selection and John the beer manager is amazingly knowledgeable! for a bar, def. try the Union Brewhouse also near exit 16 and Granite. they always have a great selection and some surprises on draft.

I am a life long Giants fan in Patriots land myself! Where that NY logo with pride!

Since you're in Mass, you mind yourself venturing down Providence way someday. If so let me know, I can give you all the info you need on beer spots around RI.

Make your way up to Sunset Bar and Grill in Brighton some night. It's about 20-30 north, but worth it for 110 craft drafts and an incredible bottle list.

If you are in Pembroke and looking to stay local your best bet in Pembroke is British Beer Company and then to head over to Plymouth. Village Vineyards is a good store in Colony Place in Plymouth and Mayflower Brewing with growler fills is less than 5 minutes away. And you have New World Tavern and Driftwood in Plymouth for beer bars/pubs.

Been a year or so since I've been but Stars on Hingham Harbor has a decent draft selection in a nice atmosphere with good food.

For a more casual option I like Union in Weymouth & FourSquare in Braintree (Weymouth Landing).

I see you're in Pembroke, why not support your local Pembroke Center Liquors. They have a pretty solid selection.

I've found that Turners Yard actually has more interesting taps and the atmosphere is far more inviting as well. The food has been hit or miss though. Either way, OP, you aren't going to find an impressive beer bar per se in this area without heading to Union.
And yeah, Pembroke Center Liquors is where I shop. They have a decent beer staff that tends to keep things fresh and gets the new releases in a timely manner.

You will find more hep if you change your avatar. That said, locate some of the British Brewing brewpubs.

I second Granite in Weymouth. I've only been twice but I've averaged about $80/trip so I have to force myself to stay away until I get better self control. As for bars, downtown Plymouth is really picking up. Driftwood is fantastic with great food. New World Tavern is good too, but it tends to get pretty crowded. The British Beer Company on Middle Street is my go-to bar. They don't serve food but they do let you bring in food and even have delivery menus behind the bar. I'm working on improving the craft section at Blanchard's in Marshfield and it's coming along nicely. Granite is definitely way ahead of me but if you're in the area stop in and say hi. We have a big tasting March 2 from 2-5.

Pembroke Center Liquors is actually one of the 2 places I have been going to since I moved up here. Their selection isn't bad at all. They have a really cool deal where if you buy 6 large individual bottles they give you 15% off.

I've been to the BBC before. Not too bad, selection was ok. Food wasn't bad.

I've been meaning to check out Mayflower, how is their tour/tasting room?

Mayflower's tasting room is great. They have a nice bar and the girl who pours on Saturdays always hooks me up with some samples. That type of service makes you want to keep coming back.

Went to the Driftwood last night actually. Had a Mayflower Pale on cask and thought they had a good draft list and I did not eat there but I liked the menu. Biggest complaint is that it was small and tight - and it was a Tuesday night. But glad to see it packed on a Tuesday. Certainly a place I would like to return to. Went to New World - they did not have any cask but I had a Hoponious Union.

You're doing a hell of a job with blanchards, keep up the good work.

North river Liquors & wine and spirits depot both in Pembroke and both with good selections to go with Pembroke Center. You have no shortage of places in your area to buy craft.
