New to Ohio (2015)

Was perusing the Ohio Liquor Control site and saw Bruery's So Happens It's Tuesday got OH approval. Would be good to get a BA Stout from Bruery here!

 

Hopefully it's a new batch and not the infected one

Friday Grandview Market District shopping update, Grabbed a sixer of Sweet Baby Jesus and Unsessionable, both new on their floor today. Have had neither, looking forward to both.

 

Does anyone know if the CBC fresh hop kegs that are popping up this week the Yakima Fresh Hop?
On beermenus, for example, it just says "fresh hop". Since these are new, I'm guessing they're Yakima, not Ohio, but obviously not sure.

 

The ones that popped in up in my area (Cleveland) is the "Ohio Fresh Hop".. it's a Red IPA featuring local nugget hops.. I haven't seen the Yakima version yet..

 

It'll be at Rozi's Bodhi night on Wednesday. They will have both. That Yakima fresh hop was one of the best beers I had last year.

 

My folks are from Canton and are back visiting family. Currently they're in Columbus. Looking for brewery recomendations. I only know and have had beers from Columbus Brewing so I've told them to go there. My old man is a hop head.

Also, what are the growler laws, can they fill any growler?

 

Probably my favorite hoppy beers in town, and a wide variety of them that he may not get anywhere else. Love the food too, so good place to get some grub as well. I am also a big fan of Seventh Son's hoppy offerings as well (which surprisingly doesn't get a lot of love here), and that is close to North High Brewing.

As for growlers, no real law against filling any growler, but most breweries insist you fill theirs only. Now, he could hit up Grandview Giant Eagle Market District and fill any growler with a variety of beers. In fact they had Hoof Hearted Musk of the Minotaur on tap this afternoon.

Or go to the Daily Growler or the Ohio tap room for more offerings on growler fills.

 

Can I just say thank goodness for MillerCoors and their diligent efforts to protect my "settled expectation" of how beer should taste by nature of living in Ohio under the state's 12% ABV cap??? I can't even begin to tell you how "confused" I would be if I were faced with a beer with higher alcohol content.

Kegs of Yakima are getting transferred up to CLE starting today and beginnig of next week. Yes we will be tapping a keg of it on Wednesday for our Columbus Brewing Bodhifest with Deagans.

 

Great info, thanks. They'll be in North Canton and also going to an Ohio St game. I've told them to visit Fat Heads as well. Any other recomendations for Ohio Brewing?

 

Sorry to bother, do you know if the kegs that were tapped this week in Columbus under "fresh hop" are indeed Yakima?
