New to Ohio (2015)

Hop JuJu was at the taphouse for most of the day yesterday... Blew about 3hrs before closing.

IBUsive was as fresh as can be, only hours since finishing in the tanks... Right to keg and on tap. It was awesome as expected.

Also got to try Spooky Tooth that is being bottled now... Was nice. I am just not in the mood (yet) for pumpkin beers!

 

Hey @Spider889 any idea when the next Wolf's Ridge bottle release will be?

And that Clear Sky Daybreak is something special.

 

I'm not sure about the Bengals, but the Reds have a good selection of local options from practically all breweries around the Cincy area and popular national options like Founders All Day IPA and Deschutes Fresh Squeezed. Quite a few of them too. I'd say at least 16 taps but I think there are more than that. I can't remember.

 

Nice! Even more reason to love the Ohio beer scene!

 

No set date yet but hopefully less than two months. August and September are packed with events for us so squeezing it in will be tough. Hoping to bottle Dire Wolf Coco Joy for the next one though and likely a non-stout too.

 

Going to be in Columbus for a work thing Monday-Wed, not a lot of time to spend on beer but I'm making it work. Will be on OSU campus and staying about 10 minutes north at a ramada. Bottle shop recommendations? What should I be looking for? Worth stopping by Columbus Brewing Co for Bodhi?

 

I had a great time yesterday and enjoyed smashing many servings of the Abyss. Food was great too. Some shade would have been nice however.

 

Yeah Deschutes event was pretty awesome just wish it didn't end so early. I hadn't known the reserve beers were timed tappings or else I had went earlier.

Anyone try Fat Heads Sunny D? New session ale brewed with oranges and tangerines. Sounds solid to me.

I've been following this thread from time to tiime, but I don't catch every post. I'm going to be over in Columbus soon. Can someone verify if the following is correct:

1) Bodhi is growler only.

2) Columbus IPA is bottled

3) White Rajah is more readily available these days but they don't put dates on the packaging, so it's best to go somewhere that does a lot of volume to get a better chance at freshness

A point of clarification on #3 - the bottles aren't dated, but the packaging date is written in marker on the sides of the cases, so try to find a store with stacks of cases.

 

50 West tweeted out a pic of a canning line half an hour ago.....I don't think I've heard about that being in the works for them. Is this new news?

 

Scrolled a bit further.....looks like the cans are for Fifty Fest only.

 

According to Twitter Jungle Jim's already has Oro Negro, CV Axis Mundi, Sixpoint 4Beans, and Boulevard Imperial Stout X- Aztec Chocolate. Craft Pointe also just indicated they'll be receiving the first two tomorrow.

Don't know if this has been posted, but Dire Wolf Canis Mexicanus is one to seek out. It has a nice chocolate, chilli, flavor which rivals a fresh Huna bottle. Nice work from an OH brewery.
