New to Ohio (2015)

Much of a cinnamon presence in Oro? I don't understand the whole habanero pepper craze either. Habanero Sculpin, Bodhi, etc are nasty.

Faint cinnamon but for me everything really hides behind the pepper.

Not a big fan of peppers in IPAs, but I love it in stouts.

I thought Oro Negro was superb. I would absolutely take it over Bomb or Xocoveza. That said, if you don't like either of those beers, you probably won't care much for Oro. I thought the habenero was very subtle, and it provided more of a feel than a taste.

 

ZD, Gumball head, Axis Mundi CV, Oro Negro and more just hit my local bottle shop. I just left my wallet at the counter.

I don't understand why people drink styles they don't like then say the beer is bad. If you don't like specific hops or ingredients such as peppers your point of view is already skewed to dislike the beer no matter how well done it is. Everyone has different tastes which should be respected but when you come out and say a beer isn't good because you don't like peppers respect goes out the window. That's like saying the local pizza place is horrible cause you got it with toppings you dislike.

In his defense, he never said the beer was bad. He just said he was not impressed and that the style is not his cup of tea. FWIW, I happen to love Oro Negro and would take some to the dome any way.

 

Pretty sure you get banned for that.

 

And he also said he wishes he liked that style more. Not calling out one person I see this all the time. "This beer was hotrible, I hate pumpkin beers" ect. I personally am not huge on smoked beers or saisons so I try not to base a beer of that style I don't like. I know I really enjoy a brewery when a beer of a style not high on my list wows me. JAFB's hefeweizen and Founders Smoked Porter come to mind as examples of this.

I totally understand your point and agree with it. Just trying to be fair. You mentioned "the beer is bad." He did not say that.
