New to Ohio (2016)

I didn't get any last year, but I am going on my lunch break to pick up my allotment and then going back after work to have some on draft.

 

Sounds nice. Watch how that whisper of vanilla bean creates locust storms of beer geeks.

Anyway, if I did my calculation correctly, looks like it'd be 13 in Ohio--we have a slightly higher standard (mean) than the world on BA's top lists.

I bought a case of this last year. 11 bottles were delicious and one bottle was an infected drain pour. I contacted MadTree about the bad bottle and they offered me another bottle or a gift card...I opted for the gift card. Was very pleased with their customer service.

I plan on buying 3 bottles this year...if it's not sold out before I get there.

Man, a store with 20+ cases?! There were only 120 for the whole state too....

 

Anywhere specific in Columbus? Market District Grandview sold out in like an hour, only got 1 case.

 

Has anyone spotted the Short's Hoppy Holiday variety pack?

I picked up my 3 at lunch time, it was fairly busy. I'm going back after work to drink what they have on tap, but everyone there seemed in a good mood!

 

Citra Noel is one of the best "holiday" brews I have had. Congrats, CBC.

 

They sold out around 4:30 yesterday, should be some going out to distro.

I had it on tap, and it was a very good BBA Stout, but I didn't get any coffee or vanilla flavors.

 

Going to be in Cinci this weekend. Anybody know what stores might be getting the Coffee and Vanilla Axis Mundi distro?

 

They said distro starts next week, so I don't think you'll be finding it.

 

I'm going to load up on this beer. Blind faith in CBC b/c everything is always so good, but also b/c I popped my first SN Celebration Ale the other day and it was meh. Sad. I have no idea if it's the West/East brewery thing or what, but that was always a fantastic $1.50 option for me for the last decade or so. Hoping I just got a bum bottle or something.

 

Anyone able to find citra noel in the Akron area?

 

Citra Noel is really good but it's not an IPA, so it may not be the best Celebration substitute.

 

They usually don't start distro until Monday or Tuesday after releases. If you want to cross your fingers, your best bet would probably be Jungle Jims (besides setting up a trade).

 

Very true: Citra Noel is not supposed to be an IPA. The idea is to get best of both worlds with warming alcohol, layers of gorgeous malt, w/ a wee bit of hop flavor and a Citra hop nose. It's only 35-ish IBU.
