Following up on the planet series, Bell's is expected to roll out their "Layers of the Earth" releases later this spring. Crust IPA, Mantle Barleywine, Outer Core Pale Ale and Inner Core Hot Magma Imperial Lager.

Seriously tho, liking the news / cans from Bell's.

Got an email yesterday for a pre-order on cans and kegs...doubt my wholesaler is playing an April Fools Day joke on me. Especially since it's February.

Less than one month old, no avatar and asking for sources. Sounds reasonable.:rolling_eyes::rolling_eyes::rolling_eyes::rolling_eyes::rolling_eyes:

Bell's rep was saying something to the effect that with their canning line they can produce beer a lot faster and with less stoppage time compared to their bottle line. FWIW.

Cans are cheaper...shipping/freight is cheaper. Cost of beer stays the same though...:slight_frown:

Why would the price go down? They made a SIGNIFICANT investment in order to extend their brand. Rarely do you see the cost of perishable goods go down.

Jackie O's Anti-Gravity IPA (5.6% abv) on tap at Save On in Mentor. Tasted like a lower abv version of Bodhi to me. Can it!

Yes they could in the future make a larger case to lower the price a bit to add incentive to have you buy more. That was a business decision though.

I see where you're coming from but why would a business lower the cost of a product the consumer is use to paying?

I don't honestly know the price of the mini kegs of Hopslam but I would assume the price per ounce is more favorable to the consumer if they're looking for a lot of hopslam. Totally could be wrong with this.

Oh I wasn't asking for lower prices. I just was pointing out that it costs less to make. And to say that the "investment" in a canning line should be factored in is kind of laughable. What about brewery expansion? A new BOTTLING line? So you can't use the "new equipment" as a factor because they seem to always be expanding. I am also not bemoaning their current price points. It's been $17.99(Hopslam) here in Ohio for a handful of years. As for the mini keg, it costs $39.99. You save about $2 overall per ounce.

Side note (only cuz I was thinking about it yesterday at the beer store)

15 pack is about $18... Great dea,l no doubt about it.

Then a six is $11, I'm staring at it next to a 2 Hearted (same price) and thinking... WTF? Now sure, I can think of instances where it would be feasible to opt for the session. Even then, scounge up $7 and get more than double the beer! This just kinda hit me yesterday. Sorry, didn't mean to derail, just struck a chord when I saw that!
