You are correct. I did some more research and Green Flash has been brewing and bottling Apline's beer since 2013 when Green Flash acquired Alpine Brewing. I don't know all of the details of the merger but either way I stand corrected. Regardless the beer still tastes fantastic and Nelson is one of my favorites.

Winter Warmer this year, like last, has 2 ticketing options. A standard ticket and a VIP.

This year the VIP ticket also includes "special beer tastings" too. Anyone have the inside scoop on what this will be?

I went last year, on a standard ticket, and got to try almost every beer I had on my list before it kicked. It was probably one of the best fests I've ever been to. No beers to my knowledge were off limits on the standard ticket but it seems like that may be the case this year?

So...am I crazy or did FH switch up the Trail Head recipe? Seemed a bit toned down, malt and yeast switch up. Thoughts? Anyone tried it?

Edit: I just tried 1 glass on draft. Not the bottles. Maybe JuJu totally wrecked my awareness.

I'm pretty sure that will still be the case. I'll check around, but I'm under the impression there may be some very limited special things that could, theoretically, kick during VIP but once public admission starts there won't be beers "off limits" to everyone or things taken off tap or anything.

I was told the recipe was changed for this batch... It didn't taste as amazing as I remember (on tap at taphouse), but I bought a 6'er to have to try at home and pay more attention. Still liked it though... Even HH on tap seemed toned down this time around... So I thought it was just me that day.

From what I understand, there was a lack of logistics focused on, and basically were charging what they should have been for 12oz. bottles, but giving out and extra 16oz via pint cans. Almost lost money on that canning.

I agree they need to do more super juicy juju. Imo much better then the regular. On a side note can someone tell me why zombie dust is so good because I am obviously missing something every time I have it. It taste too plain to me the last two times now. I have had it once in a bottle when're I felt it was really good and once not tap. Every other time in bottles it's just been plain to me. And very underwhelming.

Not to be a nose pincher, but ZD consumed within 2 weeks really is a different beer imo. Small variations from batch to batch as well have occurred. When it's on, it's fantastic I have to admit. Went through a ZD hating phase myself a few years ago.

I agree with you, at least at the current moment. I drank one bottle (12/22/2015), and thought it was a bit muted compared to last time. But there are 5 bottles left to probably sway this judgement.. Haha!

Did anyone pick up The Brew Kettle's "Journey Tour" sixer? El Lupulo Libre = just as excellent out of a bottle, imo!

Haven't seen TBK's pack yet. I picked up a can of Yellow Springs Zoetic, Founders Azacca, Dark Horse Plead The Fifth, and a Dieu Du Ciel Grande Noirceur. Excited about that one, as I loved Aphrodite and Peche Mortel.

I agree. Zombie Dust changes drastically in 3 weeks to me. The only other beer that I have had that is as time/fresh sensitive is Jai Alai.

Does anyone know whether this makes it to Cincy? El Lupulo Libre is one of my favorites.

i wish fat heads would keep hop stalker or put ibusive in a bottle and keep one of those year round instead of trail head.

^ wouldn't be surprised to see IBUsive in bottles eventually. In regards to Trail Head, I hope they keep canning it, but wish I would have known about the recipe change for the current batch. Drinking a bottle now - definitely not as flavorful as I remember. And quite bitter, like any other average pale ale.

Do they change the hop profile in IBUsive? I had one a few months back, wasnt a fan. Tried the most recent one that had Mosaic in it and loved it.
