I was referring To the barrel aged maple stout/porter. That’s about 12% ABV... Is one an undercover IPA? Or since BM doesn’t have coffee is it ridiculously unfair to compare the two?

 

Yes to many of those points. But you also just make a blanket statement saying that one beer killed another beer in a tasting.

How did it “kill” the other beer? Because you like the mouth feel better on the stout? Or you like the coffee that is included in one or not the other. As @williamDbar said just comparing beers with maple and abv is not apples to apples. Maybe next time add some more detail as to why one beer “killed/destroyed” another beer in a taste test. Then maybe I can take you seriously.

 

Or at the very least tell us how many caps were given on Untappd. Sheesh.

CBS > BM Taste, Smell, Mouthfeel by a mile. It was a million times smoother and the ABV was much more hidden. It’s just my opinion. Jackie O’s fan boys are the best though. Earth shattering to hear contrary opinions, isn’t it?

To be fair. I love Champion and Wood Ya. Oro as well. It’s honestly more about the price. I keep 90% of my spending in state. Lately, (guessing/estimating here)

40% Fat Heads
25% Platform
15% Columbus
20% Masthead, Jackie O’s, Brew Kettle, Willoughby (my backyard) Bottlehouse and 7th son on draft.

Other 10% has been almost exclusively SN (bulk case pricing) or Founders (also a fan boy)
I’m not saying Jackie O’s makes bunk beer. I like to dabble and support them and won’t stop. I just would like to retire one day as well.

 

Thanks. I use Untapped, but apparently never realized the rating was in bottle caps. I just always recall the slider goes from 0-5 in 0.25 increments.

 

Someone that dedicates 25% of their beer purchases on Platform can’t be trusted.

 

Hate to bore everyone, but on a much less argumentative topic, I am happy to report back on the new brewery in my county that I had mentioned before.

I was there on opening night and everything was solid, with my favorite probably being the Helles followed by the Eins. As a refresher, the owner is former long time Uinta brewmaster, Kevin Ely. Got to have some good conversation with him and it’s a very cool little place to disappear. For anyone looking for a road trip and some traditional beers, its about 10 min off 77 basically halfway between Cambridge and New Philadelphia.

Berlinerweiss. Both it and the Gose were the “seasonal/Holiday versions”

 

Any place that makes a schwarz is excellent in my book.

 

I picked up 'No rules' today. It just arrived at spot on the east side of CLE. It has the purple bowling ball on it. According to this site it's 2016. 2017 should have an orange ball on it. Can anyone shine light on this?

 

I had a purple ball last year. And now I have diabetes

 

No Rules gave me the beetus too. IIRC I had a '15 green ball.

 

I bought No Rules (Orange ball) at Belmont Party Supply the day before Thanksgiving. I put the bottle on the kitchen counter. Thanksgiving morning at 5am, we heard a loud crash coming from the kitchen. The bottle had exploded. I found pieces of glass 20 feet away. I don't think there is a worse beer to clean up than that sticky $hit.

 

I thought I got a raw deal purchasing last years vintage. Turns out it ruined two pancreta, one thanksgiving morning and caused an insurance claim for a minor disaster.


Good thing I drank mine before it slept with my wife and murdered my first born.


It was pretty sweet, wouldn’t buy again. Surprised the rating is so high.

 

Mother Stewart's released their Bourbon Barrel Aged Porter Aged in Stillwrights Bourbon barrels.I have to say I was impressed smooth for it's abv,chocolate amd bourbon come through nicely dare I say it's very Jackie O's ish in terms of drinking it's a very well done beer that you could drink a ton of with easy it's thst well done and smooth it stands right up there with Ohio's higher end barrel aged beers, give it a try if you can.

 

Damn, I'm going to need to try one after catching my breath from reading that second sentence.
