Hi guys! I moved to Oregon from Massachusetts a month ago, I'm so happy to have landed somewhere that loves beer like I love beer! It's been lots of fun trying new brews and have already made a few day trips brewery hopping. Not to sounds like I'm complaining, because it's super nice to be able to shop lots of places for good beer at good prices, but 12 packs/cases don't seem to be popular out here. Any local shops out there that carry things in quantity? The shops all seem to be 6 packs or 22s
Since most beers are shipped in cases, it's been my experience that a store will be happy to sell you an unopened one from the back, but they just don't merch them that way. With so many choices, which beer(s) do you want you want so bad that a sixer or 12pk won't do it for you?
I'm not sure where you live, but some (not all) distributors sell to the public. Seemingly few people are aware of this though. To my understanding even if you do find a store selling by the case the price will just be the sixer times four. A peculiarity of the three tier system is that you cannot give a discount for quantity. Likewise pulling one bottle from a six-pack should literally be 1/6th the price of the sixer.
ahhh, good to know, that explains it. yes, in MA there were case discounts so i figured i'd be better off grabbing one of something out here, but sounds like it doesn't matter. thanks for the info!
If only this were the case everywhere. My one complaint about Belmont Station. If they would adopt this, they'd get ALL of my money instead of just a lot of it.
