Look for some help on my first, Im in Az and would greatly appreciate any insight. Thanks in advance.
If there are any good easy to get local hoppy releases or barrel aged offerings, I would grab some of that and post a trade offer in the locals trade area for similar offerings from other regions. Now if you want hyped whales to impress people on untappd, good luck. Like NC, I doubt Arizona has a lot that will appeal to those that have the hyped shit. Also make sure you pack well, good enough that you would feel comfortable dropping the box from shoulder height.
NC has some dope beer. Lol I just traded some Nc beer for some bottle logic. Check out AZ wilderness man, you might be surprised.
Have you read: https://www.beeradvocate.com/community/threads/how-to-get-started-with-beer-trading.353318/ And: https://www.beeradvocate.com/community/threads/trading-rules-tips.229/ Great place to start.
Had some here in nc not to long ago at a festival. Wasn’t bad at all, needs some work.(but I’m not sure if it was the best offering ya know?)
Can do azw when cans are available in town and have seen Superstition Meadery in almost every th ap room in town. I would like ro get ahold of some Florida ba stouts
There are a bunch of craft distilleries in AZ too that look pretty interesting. If you'd ever like to work out a trade AZ whiskeys for some cool PNW beer, let me know.
Don't mean to derail/side track this thread, but have you had any craft distillery liquor that you thought was particularly impressive? We have a whole bunch of them here in PDX; there's even a tasting room at the airport. Most of what I've had has been tolerable at best, and I find it interesting that most tasting rooms want you to sample their wares in a cocktail format. None will come right out and say it, but there's almost a tacit acknowledgement that most of them aren't all that great when sipped on their own. I don't drink a whole lot of liquor, and what I do drink I tend to drink neat. So far I haven't had a craft distillery concoction yet that I would substitute for an actual bourbon, single malt scotch or anejo tequila (for example).
I try to find places that I can get small bottles rather than 750s.. Journeyman and Widow Jane comes to mind. But no, generally, most craft distilleries have a ways to go. I did really like the McMenamins bottles from the 2018 St. Paddy's day release.
I would be interested in trying some highly rated AZW for FL stouts. PM me with what you have available if interested
Bad trades shouldn't really be a thing you can check the bad trader threads they are few and far between just check your traders history and feedback.
1st trade or few trades, try to trade with people who "have something to lose"... People with bunches of trades under their belts typically aren't going to try to **** you and most would never rip you off because they don't want to risk their good reputation. Also the longer they've been in the BA / beer community typically means they have more to lose ... There are ALWAYS exceptions to these rules, but these are good places to start.
Is this why it is so hard to find someone to trade with me for Heady Topper? Bearded Iris keeps popping up, is this like the only TN brewery people want? Just asking cause it seems like we have more than that to offer?
