Upland Brewing Co. announced today that Teddy Bear Kisses will be available for wholesale on draught and in 4-packs on September 15 and on tap at Upland locations onSeptember 19.

A dark and robust beer brewed in the traditional stout method. Teddy Bear Kisses features an abundance of dark malts and high alpha hops for a powerful impact of roast, chocolate, and sweet bitterness. The lucky few who cuddle up to a warming session with Bourbon Barrel Teddy Bear Kisses, can sense the velvety malt character, balanced bitter intensity, and soothing chocolate notes created by long aging on fair trade cocoa nibs. This tasty brew is then aged in bourbon barrels giving it subtle vanilla and oak notes to warm you through the cold winter season.

About the Brewery: Located in Bloomington, Indiana, Upland's rich history dates all the way back to 1998. Taking traditional recipes and making them a bit more awesome, Upland Brewing Co. came up with their own recipes rooted with inspiration from good beer and good friends, providing a fresh local option to their communities. The name Upland comes from the term geologists gave to this area of Southern Indiana land which was never overrun by the glaciers that flattened much of Indiana's landscape. The adversity of the land bred independent thinkers who had strong wills, a connection to the land, and a wry sense of humor about life. Upland's approach to brewing beer honors the spirit of these people and this place.

Other Upland Beers: VinoSynth Red (Gold and Best in Show 2014 Indiana State Fair, Malefactor (Gold Indiana State Fair), Sour Reserve (Silver Indiana State Fair 2014), Vinyl Tap(Silver Indiana State Fair 2014), Champagne Velvet (Silver Indiana State Fair 2014), Oktoberfest(Bronze Indiana State Fair 2014), Helios Pale Ale (Gold and Professional Best of Show 2013 Indiana State Fair, Gold 2011 BTI World Beer Championships), Upland Wheat (Gold 2011, 2010 Bronze 2006 Indiana State Fair, Bronze 2009 BTI World Beer Championships, Gold 2002 Great American Beer Fest), Schwarz (Gold 2013, 2012 Indiana State Fair, 2012 Best of the Midwest Dark Lager United States Beer Tasting Championship, Silver 2010 Indiana State Fair), Teddy Bear Kisses(Gold 2011, 2010 BTI World Beer Championships).

Had this on draft last year and it was quite nice. Upland doesn't get a lot of love around these parts aside from their sour releases which are great. Something about a brewery up north that half of the time probably calls itself a Chicago brewery anyway. This one is worth a try for those who haven't already. Props Upland!

That beer would pair well with Ron Funches. It sounds like something he'd say. Plus I guess he's got a Portland connection.

Wait, so are they talking about 4-packing regular TBK? Or the BA? Regular TBK isn't bad, but BA TBK is awesome!

this stuff is like a junior dark lord diabetes inducer. now, if they would put the bourbon barrel tbk in a 4 pack, that would be
I was confused about that too. The label looks like the reg TBK label but obviously in the description it says barrel aged. I don't think they have bottled the BA version yet so wondering if the label will change.

The last batch of BA Teddy Bear Kisses i had was really strange. Had a very thick almost chalky feel to it.

Upland's website has the exact verbage from Jason's post, but without the words "bourbon barrel" and the last sentence about barrel aging. I don't think the BA TBK is going into distro. I talked to the Upland rep at a tasting and she said mentioned the regular TBK was being bottled into 4 packs.

Yes to distribution. The wording is weird, but basically it will be available to distributors 9/15 and Upland locations 9/19. Use of the word "wholesalers" is an awkward choice for a press release.

Is the BB version coming out at the same time, and if so, what format is it available in?

That's what I figured, the verb-age was just confusing. Either way, cheers to 4 packs!

Wonder why they went from bombers to 4 packs of this... Great beer though.

Why wonder? I'll take four packs over bombers any day. I have two bombers in the basement that I still haven't opened because I haven't had a good cold night and a drinking buddy to share them with yet. In a four pack, I could easily just pop one open - and keep a bottle or two to age just for fun.
