@drtth @MNAle: The offset for named anchor tag links has been updated; the sticky nav will no longer obstruct the beginning of the linked to content point.

@darktronica: Clicking on a main navigation tab, before the dropdown sub navigation loads, now works.

The poster's location now displays on responsive/mobile views, and I removed Joined Date, # Likes and # Posts; less thread noise.

I thought join date was important for a few reasons. 1) if someone's been a BA for like 12 years, I think it's important to give credit where credit's due and recognize that person's contribution to the community. 2) Join date puts certain posts into context. If someone posts a question that may seem naive or misguided to some BAs (and I've seen this plenty of times), knowing that they're new to the site helps us take it with a grain of salt and offer the most appropriate guidance rather than dismissing it outright.

As with beer karma it was a good indicator of experience and contribution to the BA community.

If you click on the name below the picture all that information pops up on the profile window.

Well, it's not like it was removed entirely. As @FBarber noted, just click the username for more info.

But I added it back to the post info, and it now appears on mobile too.

I like the site not locking up or crashing daily around 8:30 to 9:00 PM Central!!!

@Todd, Hell of a job with the redesign. It took a few days to get used to, but I really love it now. All the little tweaks along the way have helped immensely. Also, I find its way easier to use on my phone now so that is also greatly appreciated.

Nothing on this front? Am I the only one with this or just crazy?

There's nothing to fix. It's displaying as intended. And if you're still seeing whitespace in the sidebar you probably have an ad blocker, which takes revenue away from supporting this site.

Fair enough. I disabled the adblocker on this site, and you're right, that 1/3 of the screen is for the ads.

Thanks for answering me. At least I know I'm not crazy

On things to consider, I'm with the people that liked having the beer pics that went with the App. Hoping it will be on the 4.0 version.

Maybe I'm missing it, but does the mobile site have a way to jump to the first unread post in a thread? I wind up using that feature quite a bit on my laptop.

The forum in general does this by default; and regardless of the device you use and it's unrelated to recent changes

Anytime I am logged in and a click on a thread that I have read before, it automatically goes to the first unread post. On my laptop, ipad mini, and phone. It does it on all 3. Only time It messes up a bit is when loading the latest haul thread etc, since it has lots of images and loads a little slower on mobile because of that.

I'd say the difference is that the homepage "join the discussion" area pulls in the new posts from only some of the main forums. But not the sub forums.

Whereas if you go to "New Posts" it is new posts for EVERYTHING. Most that I don't care about. Regional sub forums, international, homebrewing, new members, etc. Way too much content that isn't relevant to the majority of people. It would be different if you could make this only populate with that forums sections that you subscribe to, rather than an all in setup.

If you're logged in, it pulls posts from BA Talk, General and any forums that you're watching.

It does on a lot of threads but not all of them. I just went to "post a picture of your latest haul" and I'm on post #1. It seems like this happens to me most often on longer threads or threads that go "dormant" for a few months (the "Bell's 30th Anniversary Ale" thread comes to mind). Before the responsive redesign, the "first unread" link was available since the mobile & desktop site looked the same.

The age of the thread will have an impact on viewing. And overall, the "first unread" functionality hasn't changed. You can also use "Go to First Unread" when viewing a thread. But none of this has anything to do with recent changes to the site.
