New Year Beer Resolutions (2014)

I live in Bethlehem and for some reason it's hard to achieve that simple goal of getting a job. But no job=no beer. And if I get a job. Then the second goal, I'm gonna scratch that off instead.

 

Drink more porters and stouts.

 

Somehow find a way to get an Abraxas!

 

1- stop buying more beer than I can drink, which is leading to a pretty bad hoarding problem

2 - work on improving on home brewing, starting with the competition I'm in the 2nd week of January

 

Cut down my cellar of things I've never had, I don't mind aging bottles I've tried before just to see how they develop, but I've got way too much sitting in the cellar that I've never tried before.

 

Start trading.

Go to more beer festivals and events.

 

Basically this... for me, a few lbs = 30. Only drink 3 out of 7 days.

 

Last Jan 1 I comitted myself to rate on BA every beer I drank if I hadn't rated it already. I know I should be writing full reviews, but I didnt want to make the task too hard. Here I am 180 ratings later and I am quite happy with myself. Although that number makes me think I should consider what some have already added to this string - spend less money on beer next year.

 

Keep on trying everything I can get my hands on.

 

I want to home brew more often, and hopefully try some Hill Farmstead for the first time.

 

Get as many people to try craft beer as I possibly can. Isn't spreading the gospel what this is all about?

 

Brew at home more consistantly.
Cut down on frequency of buying and drinking beer, I don't drink to excess, but drink too often and spend too much money on beer.
Offset more calories with excercise.

I'm planning on taking at least a few weeks off in January and brewing a double IPA that first weekend. Waiting until it's ready should be a nice break with some incentive at the end.

 

I have promised myself that I would travel to Alchemist and HF.. If I have time, hit up Allagash.

 

1) Start drinking some of my cellared items. Host a "cellar" party with some buddies to take down some of the bigger beers.

2) Continue fine-tuning my home-brewing skills. Create a "website" for my "brewery."

3) Attend EBF.

4) Visit Jack's Abby & Treehouse.

5) Make another trip up to hit HF, Lawson's, and the Alchemist.

 

My resolution is to get my hands on anything from Cantillon.

6) Every time I make a beer-run, pick up a single of something I have never heard of.

 

you tell them all brother spread the news. craft beer is coming to wake you all up.

I vow to spend less money on beer all at once and to be more careful with my fancy glassware. Also stop myself from acting like i just walked into Willy Wonkas abode whenever I go to a bottle shop/bevmo/totalwine.
