My girlfriend and I will most likely be spending some time in New England the week after Christmas, arriving in Boston Tuesday afternoon and heading out the Sunday after New Year's. I've done a lot of digging on this forum as well as TB and there have been some really informative posts to help me understand what to expect, but as a southern California native I wanted to ask a few dumb questions.

After we land in Boston on Tuesday I was planning to hit Trillium in the late afternoon, then head out west to grab dinner at Armsby and stay the night somewhere. I'm hoping to stop by Tree House on Wednesday if they don't have special holiday hours, then head north to Vermont for a few days.

If Alchemist has regular deliveries I was planning to hit Hunger Mtn Thursday morning then head up to Farmstead, then back down in the late afternoon for an early NYE dinner at Hen of the Wood in Waterbury. If I can find some Lawson's somewhere in between that'd be icing on the cake.

For New Year's Eve we're not looking for anything crazy, but would love to hang out somewhere in the Burlington/Waterbury/Montpelier area and enjoy some good beers and atmosphere. Any recommendations? Any cool events we should try to attend?

Also, what are some fun non-beer related things to do in the area around this time of year? Obviously skiing/snowboarding, but what about things like uh...snowshoeing? Snowmobiling?

Finally, and this may be more of a confirmation rather than a question, but in terms of weather I'm assuming it's best to simply cross my fingers, hope for the best, and be flexible if the weather changes our travel plans. I'm a little concerned about the road to HF, but from previous posts it sounds like it's OK for the most part. Should I drop some extra money on an AWD or 4x4 rental (if that's even an option), and/or be proactive and get some chains?

Sorry for the long post, and I apologize if some of my questions have been covered ad nauseam. I tried to do my due diligence to avoid as much redundancy as possible. Thanks!

While in Boston also hit up Night Shift for sure. Great beer & a nice tap room. Or just grab a few beers to go. Spend a night in Boston & go to a Bruins or Celtics game if they're in town.
