    Hello Everybody,

I'll be traveling to New York (Manhattan/Brooklyn) for about a month. What are some good bottle shops/beer bars in the area that are worth visiting? I'll be there for work in Manhattan but staying in downtown Brooklyn. Thank you for the help!

Lots of threads on this one, search the forum. Enjoy, great beer scene here. Make sure you check out Other Half and Threes in Brooklyn.

Thanks, I appreciate it. I'll be staying at the Aloft in downtown Brooklyn and working in Lower Manhattan (Broad St).

There's an awesome list in this forum on basically every spot worth checking out, organized by neighborhood. It has bars, bottle shops, and restaurants.

If you're on broad st, then the Whole Foods on Bowery and New Beer Distributors on Christie are going to be close. Both have huge selections. Lots of other options, but those two are top of mind.

Check out Other Half Brewery in Brooklyn. Or find their beers all over Manhattan/Brooklyn. They are the "Best" thing going for NYC these days. Even while they are frozen over. I am from SoCal and was in Newark last July for a one day training at EWR. I read about this brewery called Other Half and their ipa's. After checking into my Newark hotel I ventured out looking for any ipa's from OH. Found Green Diamonds at Fool's Gold. Wow. Amazing IPA. Had 3 glasses before heading over to Cooper's Craft & Kitchen, and over to Jimmy's. I would recommend Other Half and those 3 in Manhattan. I will be there in 2 1/2 weeks and I plan to visit Other Half Brewery and Torst, both in Brooklyn.

You'll be about a 15 minute walk to St. Gambrinus, probably your best bet nearish your hotel. Always good tap selection, decent bottle selection but a little pricy on the bottles and nothing is refrigerated.

Also, Aloft is a weird hotel.

I second St. Gambrinus. I was in Brooklyn right after new years and happened upon St. Gambrinus and loved it. Really good prices and selection and the guy who was working the bar(not sure if he is the owner) was beyond nice.

I'm looking for a good bottle shop in the Lower Manhattan area. Around the Wall St and Waters St area. Also do they fill growlers? Any recommendations would be appreciated. Thank you.

I don't know down-downtown that well, but I don't think there's anything at all really in terms of bottle shop / growler fill. Best bet is going to be Top Hops / Whole Foods Bowery / Good Beer - all close to Fool's Gold

Agree here--If you're planning on going to Fool's gold, WF bowery and top hops are basically a few blocks away on either side of FG. Both Fill growlers and have about ~12 beers on tap available for growler fills(and pints as well at top hops). Good beer is another great spot but a bit further away. Also New Beer Distributors is an awesome bottle shop right near WF bowery but closes early. (but don't buy IPAs from new beer before checking bottle dates or you could end up with a year+ old IPA)

I work in that area. Don't bother for bottle shops, there's nothing around. I find it's super easy to go up to the Delancey/Essex J stop and go to Top Hops or WF Bowery if you want to walk. It'd be easy for you since you can hop on the F from there as well.

Thanks for the ipa tip. I always do. Especially those sitting out on the shelf. I like my ipa's in the cooler.

Went to new beer distributors yesterday and walked out with a nice little haul. Place was pricey but had a massive selection. Thanks for the heads up!

I work in the same area and there's not much. Occasionally I'll take a walk to Whole Foods Tribeca though (10-15 min walk from Wall St.)

Malt & Mold on the Lower East Side sometimes has a few gems, and the owner is a super nice guy. He'll usually have something you can try. Just check beermenus. Most of the better bottle shops update daily. As far as bars, Torst is always awesome. And Barcade is pretty good too.

This is your best bet for the area. Only a couple blocks away and they fill growlers.
