I'm always looking/hoping for a new brewery closer to home. Anything opening anytime soon here in upstate?
Which part of "upstate" are we talking about here? That's a pretty expansive place depending upon your definition of upstate.
pubquest.com It's usually ahead of even my own knowledge, and if you discover an update, they're really quick to implement it.
Although Brewey at Bacchus certainly makes good beer, I don't know that it is worth the 1hr +/- trip from Albany. I visited about a week ago and they only had two of their own beers on tap. Also, it is more of a bar than a brewery. That being said Lilith was an exceptional beer and I highly recommend it. Not to be nitpicky, but Bacchus isn't necessarily new either.
Its about 2 hours from Albany, but Peekskill Brewery is one of my favorites. And I'm not sure exactly where Captain Lawrence is located, but its upstate too and they make some good beers.
On the map it looks far from Albany but Horseheads Brewing seems to consistently win awards at TAP NY and other events. Have never seen them downstate but would definitely try them sometime.
Completely agree, I don't think Bacchus is worth a trip from anywhere. We locals hit it often only because in the Mid Hudson Valley our options are so limited. And OP, Dan Suarez will be opening soon in/near Germantown I believe. Sloop also has moved to Northern Dutchess and will be opening soon (or maybe open already) And I assume you have been to Rare Form?
i was just given 2 growlers from Gilded Otter...a porter and blueberry something i think 1 will meet its demise tonight
Well might as well cover NYC - we got 22 brewers in the city now: http://brewyorknewyork.com/post/119042918038/nyc-brewery-count-stands-at-22
