Saw this come across the social media. A new beer to be revealed later on this week? My guess is that Yuengling is jumping on the hop bandwagon which is fine with me.

I saw some picture of a yuengling IPL on the way. Maybe that's it?

I would have to guess an IPL, too. And this:

Cannot comment if this is completely legit or not but it sure looks it.

yup. see this interview with their COO. the choice quote:

Q: Do you plan on expanding your line of beers to include more seasonal or one off beers?
A: We are not driven by innovation and new product introduction like most breweries today. We have a disciplined business model. We’ve produced three seasonal beers for limited release periods so far including, Bock, Oktoberfest and Summer Wheat, our Belgium style wheat beer. In the 4th quarter of this year we will introduce our newest family member in our seasonal line up; an IPL.

Their summer wheat was actually pretty decent. Just hope their IPL doesn't have that nasty aftertaste that their regular lager does.

I am looking forward to the IPL release too! Yuengling did a great job with Summer Wheat.

    Cheers!

Bring on the IPL I say.

It's funny reading the comments on Yuengs FB posts regarding summer wheat. 9 out o 10 probably never tried a hefe before: disgusting, why does it taste like bananas, has a weird bubble gum aftertaste, eww tastes like cloves,etc...

I'm excited for this. Summer wheat is pretty solid.

Agree with the fellows above. Summer Wheat was an above average beer. Always excited to try new localish beers.

Their COO referred to Summer Wheat as "Belgium style"? Weird.

An IPL from Yuengling should be great, can't wait!

I noticed that too, but chalked it up to a transcription error (I would hope).

I'm also curious about this IPL. I Ofest was average but the Summer was decent.

Yeah, the label says "Traditional Weizen Beer"... not "Witbier".

I noticed that as well. I debated wading into the fray, but decided it wasn't worth the headache. A lot of those people probably haven't experienced anything more adventurous than a Yuengling Lager anyway.

Fully agree Jack, I'll definitely try the IPL, let's hope it's as solid as the Summer Wheat.

The Summer Wheat ended up being surprisingly good and I am hoping this will be the same. And if it follows their traditional pricing structure, it will surely be a bargain. Sad the Bock got the axe but I really didn't drink that much of it over the years and it seemed to be one of their lesser known beers.

So they dropped three hop-pellets into the brew kettle of Traditional Lager?

Joking aside - if the IPL is 60 IBU, and Traditional Lager is 12 IBU, there would be a substantial difference in hopping.

Plus, I would think it'll be paler than the amber Traditional Lager.
