I'll preface this by saying yes, I used the search button, but didn't anything that helped me. I'm being sent to Newark by my company for 2 weeks. Staying at the Indigo hotel, looking for a bottle shop that is within walking distance to the hotel. Thanks!
Newark isn't exactly a hotbed for good beer, also, depending where you are, you may not want to walk around that much if you know what i mean....your best bet would be to take the PATH (public transportation) into Jersey City or Hoboken and checking out the bottle shops and bars there.
Or, better yet, walk to Newark Penn Station and take the PATH to Manhattan and visit some of the awesome beer bars there and in Brooklyn and Queens (some great bottle shops as well). With two weeks to work with, you should be able to hit a lot of them. My recommendations would be: Manhattan - Blind Tiger, One Mile House, Fools Gold Brooklyn - Torst Queens - Alewife Even better yet - go to Other Half in Brooklyn. And if you can rent a car on the weekend, drive down to Kane and Carton. The drive to Kane is less than an hour from Newark and Carton is not far from Kane.
Jersey Wine's on, wait for it...Jersey Ave Super Buy-Rite for bars... Iron Monkey in JC and Cork City in Hoboken
You won't find much in the of beer there but if you want a good time cross the tracks. Than walk down Ferry St. you will have a good time.
