I will be in Newark Ohio this weekend for a wedding. What are the best beer stores in the area? Looking particularly for Fatheads Headhunter and Hop Juju if any still in area. Also would love recommendations for any other local beer worth picking up.

Not sure about bottle shops, but Buckeye Lake Brewery isn't too far from Newark (Less than a 25 minute drive). I know they do to-go fills of many different sizes.

The Beverage Source is the best store in that area. Brew's Cafe in Granville (~6-10 minutes drive) is a great beer bar with to-go sales and growler fills. Homestead Brewing Co. is nearby (~5 minute drive) too if you want to get growler fills or fresh to-go bottles. The Kroger in Newark always have a good selection of Fat Heads, Jackie O's, Homestead, and other OH breweries too.

As a Newark resident I would agree that about sums it up. I'm in Beverage Source 1-2 days a week, and as of past sunday last I saw they had Headhunter but no Juju. Lost in the shuffle of big boys like Fat Head's and White Rajah etc., as a local fanboy I was fond of Homestead 3MC's double IPA, that is likely to be found at any1 of those spots. Red Oak pub in Newark is also a good place to get some grub with some good taps as they often seem to have Head Hunter.

Beverage Source and Brews has you for pretty much everything. Buckeye Lake would be a stop for me too, especially if they have a fresh batch of Shovelhead on. Maybe @Bogforce can chime in on that one

If you have the time, I would second the suggestion to hit Homestead.

^ This is where it's at. Beverage Source and Brews. Brews always has a good draft list. https://m.facebook.com/Brews-Cafe-202046362610/
If you have the time, I highly recommend Homestead in Heath, and the short drive from there to Buckeye Lake also. Both have a solid lineup of beers. Buckeye Lake does crowlers and you can have Pizza Cottage deliver to the bar.

Buckeye Lake Brewery will be worth the short drive. Lots of good beer on tap, great food trucks all weekend and great people. Check out buckeyelakebrewery.com for a current tap list. Beverage Source is number one as far as bottles go and their bar always has a good tap selection especially since they only have six. Brews Cafe has been on a downward slope for me, they recently got hit by the health department for some bad violations. But they do have quite a tap list.

Homestead, Buck's and Granville Brewing are closer to Newark but their beer isn't near as good as Buckeye Lake Brewery!

Forgot to mention.. Brews will do carryout on all their bottled beer and the IGA in Granville also has a really great selection of Ohio beer. Grab some Homestead 3 MCs and Buckeye Lake Brewery Shovelhead 2x IPA, you won't be disappointed.

Thanks for everyone's help. Had a nice dinner and beers at Red Oak Friday night. Really enjoyed the French Ridge IPA. Stocked up with Fatheads, Jackie O's, and French Ridge Saturday and Bogforce you were right. We are not disappointed with the Shovelhead and 3 MCs we picked up as well.

I'm heading to Newark this weekend (from Colorado). Anyone know if Hop JuJu is still around in any bottle shops? I'll be around Newark and east side of Columbus. I called a couple places but they didn't have any and they didn't know if they were getting anymore. Thanks.

I highly doubt you find any juju. It's difficult enough for locals to get their hands on. I saw it once and that was about a month ago. It doesn't last anywhere for more than a few days (if that).

There might be some Giant Eagles in Columbus that have a few of their second shipment left, but probably very scarce at this point. Ask some locals in the New to Ohio thread
