Stopped in here tonight on our way north for the weekend. Anybody on here been before and able to make some recommendations? I'll post my thoughts when we leave.

Funny you mention that - was just hanging out with my buddy from Newaygo on Tuesday. He was trying to convince me to come up there to his house in a couple weeks and mentioned Newaygo Brewing as a selling point for me - he's not a craft beer junkie, though. Definitely interested to hear what you think.

This brewery just recently opened so there are few of us BAers (if any) who have had the chance to go there yet. The place is on my list to visit and write a review, so I'll look forward to your comments.

Their beers are similar to their sister brewery-the hideout. I'm not going to make a point to go back. It's hard for new breweries to compete with the quality of Founders or Bells.

I didn't realize that The Hideout is their sister brewery, but it's good to know. I forgot to provide an update as mentioned upon leaving, but now that I'm home I suppose it's time. I tried both their IPA and DIPA that were offered, and both tasted flat. I understand that I'm relatively new here, but I've had a hell of a lot of good beers of all styles, and neither of these impressed me much at all. My Wife had their Irish Red and thought the same (she mentioned that it didn't come close to Killians on taste either so I'm guessing many here would be rather unimpressed).

The service for us was somewhat slow out of the gate, but improved shortly after we ordered our food. We split an order of their breadsticks and the pulled pork pizza which were both pretty good. While I could see myself stopping in again to give them another shot, I don't think I'll make it a point to do so.

I don't really think it's fair to even put a new brewery like this in the same sentence as a Founders or Bells as the latter 2 have a few more years of commercial brewing under their belt. I'm hoping the brewer/owner (I'm guessing the owner is head brewer based on what I've read) gets things dialed in a little better, as I'd really like this place to become a 'must stop' destination for us while visiting my parents in Fremont.
