Had this with dinner. Heading out to get some treats! #VBS with all you TNKOTB BA'ers! Happy Halloween!
Big thanks to @Avelasquez80 for hooking me up with a styro 12 shipper & box. I've been in Texas for almost a month & need to ship some stuff back so we met up at Ranger Creek to do the tour & grab some beers. To top it off he slipped a couple of these tasty home brews in there Can't wait to try this it this week! Thanks again for everything Ariel
IT DID. @Mipper straight hooked it up y'all. We have here a fine selection of pumpkin beers from Stevens Point, Dogfish Head, Fat Head's, Saucony Creek (the only four of the box that I had before!). In addition there is Pumpkin Ale from Iron Mill, King Don's Pumpkin Ale from Catawba, and Pumpkinfest from Terrapin. But Wait There's More! Lancaster Brewing - BAKED Pumpkin Ale Evil Genius Trick or Treat: chocolate pumpkin porter Buffalo Bill - Black Pumpkin Oatmeal Stout Breaker Brewing - Potbelly Pumpkin Ale O'Fallon Vanilla Pumpkin Beer Vivant - Pumpkin Tart So many new pumpkin ticks to get into so I cracked one to drink while doing this write up! My girlfriend loves the pumpkin beers to so we decided to Trick or Treat! Rich and chocolately taste going on, I dig it. Thanks again @Mipper! Oh and there was a Westbrook Gose in there that didn't make it into the pictures for...reasons. (OK yeah i shotgunned it straight out the box)
I wasn't expecting anything in return for meeting up with @core42 besides a handshake and sharing some pints together but he was very gracious enough to offer me some beer for the 12 shipper. (Shocker). thanks again for the handshake Jeff, if you're ever in town again we'll do it again. *forgot to post yesterday.
Alright gentlemen, it's time to get Round 2 started! I think it's going to be a good one. Entry requirements will be the same as last time, either a successfully completed BIF or 5 trades, and 100% trade feedback; without one of these requirements, a veteran BIFer may sponsor your entry into the round. The timeline: Signups are open for only 1 week, until 11/8. Targets should be out by 11/14 (hopefully sooner). Shipping deadline is 12/16 to ensure boxes are arriving before the holidays; there may be a "newbie" deadline earlier than this as needed. The BIF: This one is going to be a bit more focused on swag, and again will be expected to be a relatively small volume of beer. The basics: Two large swag items One small swag item 100 oz of beer MINIMUM 180 oz of beer MAXIMUM* *PRETTY PLEASE do not exceed the maximum, if you want to crush your target harder, do it with quality, or with additional swag. A few words on swag items, specifically for this BIF round: In the BM to get your shipping info I'll ask for your swag preferences, giving me more information does not make you picky, it makes you an easy target to shop for, please be detailed. More than 3 total swag items is encouraged The three main swag items must be from breweries in your local area A "large" swag item is a piece of glassware or a t shirt. A "small" swag item is just about anything else, such as a taster glass or bottle opener. Stickers and coasters are encouraged but do not count as a "small" item. Items like tin tackers, hats, frisbees, tap handles, etc are all encouraged as a nicer "small" item; if your target has specifically requested something** it may then be counted as a "large" item Please use logic and don't send a tap handle to someone that doesn't have a keg system. Since tshirts are typically fairly expensive, even if you've requested tshirts over glassware, do not expect to receive two tshirts, feel free to send two at your own discretion **Someone with a keg system might request tap handles, or someone that likes hats might request one A few words on beer, specifically for this BIF round: All beer sent must be rated AT LEAST 85+ (90+ preferred) on BA or have an rAvg of 4.10 if there are too few ratings for a score; as a rule of thumb send a box you would want to receive Each of the three "main" pieces of swag must have a beer to accompany it from the same brewery*** The remaining beers may be, but are not required to be, from local breweries ***If I sent a glass and a bottle opener from Forest & Main, and a tshirt from Tired Hands, I must have 2 beers from Forest & Main and 1 beer from Tired Hands Please respond within the thread if you are interested in joining this round; I will BM everyone to gather shipping information (I do already have addresses for most, but will need shipping date restrictions, content preferences, etc). Cheers everyone!
Don't BM me, I'll BM you guys. That way it can all be in the same format and easy to cut/paste to your senders.
Glad to see you! As I mentioned elsewhere, you'll need a sponsor for the BIF. Hopefully you have your own (tag them here or have them reach out to me) but if not we'll see if we can find you someone.
Ok! I have a successful BIF under my belt, but I'll reach out to a potential sponsor either way. Thanks.
I was preoccupied with Trick or Treaters and a neighborhood party at which I shared a bunch of my homebrew last night, so didn't get my Halloween #VBS pics up last night. But here is what went down: First, the pumpkins Then, the Pumpking also, finally cracked my 2014 Avery Pump[ky]n. Booze city. Split it with the GF so I wasn't immediately drunk off my ass Crushed some homebrew at the neighbor party, including a stout float with my Pumpkin Stout and Autumn Spiced Ice cream. Magical. Capped the night off with a BA Rasputin, which was actually a bit of a let down, not much barrel character. It was too late in the night/too many beers in to deal with photography. Hope everyone else had a great night and drank some good beers!
Dude! This would be killer if you don't mind letting it go. I'll send some fresh Surly Abrasive your way!
