I know it's early, but I read this article yesterday, http://www.craftbeer.com/craft-beer-muses/6-of-the-biggest-beer-releases-of-2016. I'd like to get some Surly Todd the Axeman when it comes out (4, 6 or 8 cans). Had one can last year and it was amazing. Article mentioned March. Hoping it is late March/early April as I'm looking to get a few different beers for my brothers 40th birthday (4/26). Anyone have more info on this release? Will head to the midwest or great lakes forums but thought I'd try with this crew first.
Haven't heard anything on release date, though. Last summer was the first time they canned it and it was late summer.
What a bizarre list... I'm not disagreeing that all of those are good beers, but it spans such a wide range of availability from Todd, basically a regional seasonal, to PtY, DONG and typically single-tapping events... and then there's Melvin, completely out of left field.
I have to agree with @LehighAce06 on this one as where does Melvin get in this elite field there is hardly any ratings on there beers. I'm sorry to say Focal Banger is a good beer but doesn't get star status with me either. Now if the new Alchemist Brewery starts canning batches of The Crusher again then I would be interested.
It's time for the next round of #GIF (Growler It Forward)! If you'd like to participate: BM your info (name, address, email, any shipping restrictions, etc.) with the subject 'GIF' if you'd like to be involved. I'll keep sign-ups open until Friday, February 5 at 11:59pm. -Fill up the growler with a quality beer from a local brewery -Ninja off to a random member in the GIF -Once they get it, they drink the growler and post a #VBS. Once the growler is empty, recipient signs the growler with the sharpie / pen included. Additionally, there will be a wrapped "challenge" bottle in the box. There will be a written challenge that must be completed and proven prior to unwrapping and drinking the bottle. If you complete the challenge, please replace the bottle you earned with a new challenge and challenge bottle prior to shipping along the new box. If for some reason you cannot video or take a picture of yourself doing the challenge due to job reasons, we can think up a more appropriate challenge. This is open to anyone who participated in the first round of the Newbie BIF or signed up for the second one.
I will agree with you on Focal Banger being better than Heady but IMO The Crusher is better than either of them. But then it's been well over a year since there has been any.
Just got back from vacation and my trade box from @smanson56 is waiting for me at FedEx, so make that at least two more...
Getting after some IPAs tonight. Normally only post #VBSs with beers from people in the group but I'm getting loose tonight so my rules are too! New brewery tick. This beer is very nice, a top notch everyday drinker type This batch is killing it! I had told myself I was done with the enjoy bys since they had slipped a bit and it'd be a good area to save a few bucks on, but the "unfiltered" pulled me back. I think this batch is on point and was worth it! Cheers gents!
@Homebrew strikes again! 2 of us in 1 day. Reached out to Dave about getting IST up in CT, when I was up there recently. I didn't have a chance to hunt for the beer. But He ninja'd some to me! Awesome! NEBCO Imperial Stout Trooper - the beer I was going to hunt. 2...WOW! NEBCO G-Bot - Perma Want! Even more so for the new can! MBC Another One - Glad to revisit this one. Thanks man! I have your address! I'll get you back!
I got in touch with @smanson56 to work out a small trade, as there were a couple things I was after. He went above and beyond and sent this killer box. This group has put Night Shift on my radar, and these will be my first from them. The White Birch is Deep Dark River Stout, another new brewery for me. All new breweries for me. Super excited to finally try some Hardywood, and I thought that Vendel looked awesome when someone else here received one. Stout with coffee and/or chocolate is always plus. I've been pining after all of these things, excited to try more Trillium (only had DDH Fort Point and I loved it). Rum BA Stoneface sounds fantastic and the new opener is rad. Thanks again, Sandy!
