Jon, Had 3 or 4 people compliment me on the shirt. However, someone thought it said Syphilis Brewery...
Had a great time this weekend. Friday night I met some great folks from the Locals BIF and had the share of shares. Saturday was Huna and I grabbed 2 new handshakes from @Eziel and @Elkevjoe and his wife. Also got a second handshake from @Steban and his super nice wife who convinced me to try a beer poured straight from a coconut. thanks again guys. Hope to meet you all again in the future.
I would've never gotten that handshake without that shirt. Chad waited for me to take a piss before our photo.
Seems like you guys had a total blast at Huna day. Those check-ins were incredible. How does this compare do DLD? Haven't been to either (going to FWIBF this June, my first bigger fest).
know what you're doing but still haven't guessed your target. so Clue for 4 isn't 1-5 and clue for 5:1?
I also heard from a few people that while the 2 fests are vastly different, Huna blows away DLD. I am worn out and trying to catch up at work - damn that was a fun couple days. I got some new Newbie handshake tips from @Yourahoser and @Steban (who also hooked me up nicely in a small IP trade right before the big fest). Always nice to touch tips with @Elkevjoe and his lovely wife. Also had fun partying with the SWer crew - epic share at the BrewHub on Friday. I'm trying to figure up the answers to my LIF right now.... I think my sender is a Nashville Newbie.....
And why not, it's a shitty Monday so......... Clue for #6=6 Clue for #7=1,6,7 Clue for #8=1 Clue for #9=3,4
Hint #1: Shipping north. Hint #2: Shipping to a different time zone Hint #3: My target is not a Newbie to the Newbie BIF Hint #4: Big 10 country Hint #5: Not shipping to @Eziel
Alright, I think I have everything in order for my Huna LIF. The answers are as follows: 1) Unique CheckIns on Untapped - 81 I ended up stopping at 2498 but believe me, I tried to bust the 2500 mark! 2) Handshake ticks? I hit 8 SWer, 5 of them new ticks. I got 3 Newbies, 2 of them new for a total of 25 points. For the record, I got @Beer4B @Tertullian007 @Dicers @jfstilling @Jas45678 @ThreeFishes @FATC1TY @Elkevjoe @Steban @Yourahoser and @Dave_Treat ... Great times and was the best part of it all. 3) Most people in the pool at once? Most I saw was 5, I was one of them, one was a Yeti, water was cold. 4) Total strokes for 3 rounds of golf? 240 82, not bad since I haven't touched a club since September, 74 with a couple double bogey and finally a 7:30am-postHuna 84 with 6 double bogey turds. 2 poops on the course. 5) Total miles driven on the van? 298 Trick question because my parent's live in Orlando which is fairly close, I think some people thought I was driving down from Ohio. Now you know 6) Highest speed reached by @Tertullian007 ? 71 was the fastest I saw on Friday, he drove a different car back on Saturday. He did a great job for sure... 7) Longest line for me? Spent 56 minutes in line for Side Project. I drank about 10 pours right off the bat of some great stuff and decided a longer wait might be good for my longevity. I didn't realize people were cool with you jumping in and out of line to grab pours, so I ended up drinking the entire time anyway. Ended up with 2 awesome pours of The Scribe (the tits!) followed by 2 big pours of 2 Candles (triple tits) and all of those were courtesy of Paul, @Tertullian007 's buddy from St. Louis. I was glad I got to get @Dave_Treat and @Yourahoser some of that 2 Candles. So the total comes to 776 with one of the new Newbies winning - @nshvllbeer with a guess of 759. The next closest guesses were @jschott75 with a 697 and @Jwilford23 with an 812. Nice job @nshvllbeer , just send me a BM and I will get a box out soon!
Awesome! Never thought I would win this one. I was watching your Huna day checkins on Untappd and was very jealous. Going to have to try and go next year. Thanks man!
Of all your excellent check-ins, how much was bottle shares outside of the festival vs. line-up from the organizers? How many bottles did you guys bring to bottle shares? Did it seem chaotic or organized? Sorry for all the q's, trying to gather fest intel before FWIBF.
I ended up staying with a few guys over in the SWTFYW crowd so to say I bet I saw 20+ cases of beer in our rental house between about 12 people, that would be spot on. Granted it wasn't all to drink right away (lots of pick-it-ups, swaps, etc) but overall, The Locals and the SWer crowd did a good job of coordinating who was bringing what by using a Google spreadsheet. There were shares each night leading up to Huna. We decided to do a large share at BrewHub in Lakeland, mainly because a couple SWers live very close and know the owners and do shares there often. I'd say there were 25+ people at that share and it lasted about 3 hours. Most people brought 3-5 really nice bottles to share - some people less, some people much more. All of my Friday night beers were from the share and all of my Saturday things were from Huna - I'm sure I missed some or didn't bother checking into beers I'd had before etc. I'm not sure how many breweries were at Huna but you could have drank the whole time with zero lines unless you wanted to hit one of the crazy beers - TG line was line for MD and other stuff, Bottle Logic was crazy for FO and Darkstar, Fremont was long for their 2 beers, Side Project was probably the longest, Mazurt and 3 Sons was crazy and depending on what was being poured at Cigar City, the line there moved well but would take 5-10 minutes each time but there was plenty of room and lots of great beers. For me, I enjoy the pre-festivity shares, the handshakes and hanging out the most. It is nice to try to land a couple great bottles to bring. The spreadsheets help to see what others are bringing so you can fill in gaps. Most of the spreadsheets have a wishlist so you can put some things down you'd love to see.
