Day 6a Pours dark. Chocolate and coffee. Thinner than a stout and not very boozy. I'm thinking Porter. Blank cap in what appears to be a 500ml bottle. Holy shit! @beluga92 is the man! This is also a wishlist bottle. Thanks! So damn good
Day 6b Bottle is identical so Hill Farmstead. Thicker mouth feel and getting lots of coffee. Reveal and commented: Two Hill Farmstead beers in one night! This 6 days has been amazing. @beluga92 absolutely killed it.
Last Day: Community caps with Candy Corn gummies. Roastiness and some alcohol presence. I have a feeling the other is its BA counterpart.... Excellent!!!! Killshot Patrick, you killed it, man. This was a fantastic 6 days. Cheers!!!
Day 6 from @CBrodbeck Pleasant sweet/spicy interplay of raspberries and habaneros, this is only my 2nd habanero beer but way better that the other one. Great finish to six days of quality Funky Buddha, all very well paired with relevant candy. Very cool box, and while I was a fan of Funky Buddha before, now I'm really digging them thanks to @CBrodbeck
Kill shot of the Funky Buddha all-star line-up courtesy of @CBrodbeck - thanks again! That was a great round. Congrats to all the first time participants and thanks @jonbonfondle for running this.
Sad the six days are already over, enjoyed them so far, and think this last bottle won't disappoint either. No clues from the cap, but accidentally got a peak at a funky buddha label. Taste is maple and a touch of smoke, more smokey as it warms. Thinking it's either wide awake or morning wood. Guessing it's wide awake, and the reveal: Bingo! Very tasty, had only a small pour before so it was fun to get a whole bottle. The six days kill shot (minus a last snow that was already recycled): Thanks so much @maljay26, enjoyed some of Florida's finest these past six days!
Day 5 Bottle from @jschott75. Brought to a bottle share last night (Halloween night) do I missed the reveal pic and the candy shot. 2014 Dark Lord!!! New tick and awesome beer! I'd heard mixed reviews but I thoroughly enjoyed it (and the other guys did also!). Super generous Jim, thanks so much!
Day 6 Bottle Definitely a golden sour. Really nice nose. Picking up tangerine and orange. Taste is spot on with the nose. Candy is a great Halloween theme! (My wife wouldn't try one because it grossed her out lol) Reveal: Great way to close out the week! Love this format and big thanks to @jonbonfondle for organizing everything and @jschott75 for my box! Looking forward to the next round!!! Kill shot:
Day 5 brought this beaut. Definitely an imperial stout pretty dark roasted flavors with a sweeter finish. White cap leads me to believe modern times and guess is some barrel aged Monsters Park. Not picking up adjuncts or flavors. Reveal Rum barrel! Makes sense with the sweet finish nice sipper especially as it warmed. Day 6 brought two 12ozers that I shared with @KyleDavis First one we opened definitely barrel present. Something sweet and slightly bitter finish. We were going barleywine, american. The color was a quite dark though but just didn't scream stout to us blind. We tried to 6B right after and this was definitely an imperial stout. Dark roast, chocolate big finish. The reveal: BA Blackout '15 and Blackout '15. Wow both of us are quite familiar with BA Blackout and neither of us picked it up. I even drank a bit after the reveal and get completely different flavors from the BA Blackout vs the Blackout. Very interesting! Thank you again @Eziel and @Elkevjoe for tying me into this madness!
Foil wrap and bottle shape suggested Alesmith. Great bourbon barrel nose. Taste was slightly hot but in a way I enjoy. Great way to end the round: BBA speedway! Thanks to @BartS for some amazing beer. I'll post a kill shot later!
What's up buddy! Glad you see you in the BIF world and out of the viper pit world. Lots of good guys here! Cheers!
Final Day 6 Group Pic Day 1 - 2nd Shift Brewing - Katy Day 2 - MadTree Brewing Co - Levanto W/ Tart Cherry & lemon peel. Day 3 - Hill Farmstead - Twilight of Idols Day 4 - Jester King - Kollaborationsbier Batch #3 Day 5 - Cycle Brewing - Friday Day 6 - 7th Sun Brewing - Foedre'd Together These were all new ticks, and excellent beers. What a fun six days. Thanks again @Yourahoser & to @jonbonfondle for running this round!
Forgot to post Day 6, so here we go: Cap didn't help at all this time, new brewery, new tick. First pour I was thinking barleywine because it was a thinner, brownish red pour with that distinctive BW aroma. First sip I was greeted with some barrel flavor and a touch of vanilla, this didn't scream BW anymore, not to mention the fact that it went down smooth. No clue what it was: Rahr & Sons Bourbon Barrel Winter Warmer. This was a complete mindfuck on the style, but was thoroughly enjoyable. Pairing of the beaver hut and alligator was a bit odd, but was good nonetheless.
AND the Kill Shot: Day 1 - Great Divide Oatmeal Yeti Day 2 - Lakewood The Temptress AND French Quarter Temptress Day 3 - Firestone Parabola 2014 Day 4 - Thread Spinner Day 5 - Saint Arnold Pumpkinator 2016 Day 6 - Rahr & Sons Bourbon Barrel Winter Warmer (noteable mention 903 Sasquatch) Overall, @JoeyIce3 did a great job pairing, not to mention pick some delicious beers since I didn't have any "wants" for him to work off of. Each one was a new tick which is always enjoyable. Thanks for the great ride Joe, and a bigger thanks to @jonbonfondle for running this round.
