So in the past i have traded with only a friend in Indiana, but i decided to give this a whirl. In my haste, and not realizing there was an actual trade button, i shipped a box of goods that will be arriving to the trader today. As of this morning, the pending trade has yet to be accepted and he has not responded to the past 2 convo's i sent him. Now this may be me panicing over nothing or then again it may be $60 out the window. Any advice?
Check # of trading he has done in the past and see if he had any negative feedback. Did you guys agreed that he will ship his box out after he receives your box?
Well i offered to ship 1st via the guidelines as this was my 1st trade. He said he would ship mine soon, but i figured it would be after he received mine, as i had no feedback at all. I see no negative feedback, but seeing him active in convo's and searching threads is kind of was had me alarmed, when he was not responding.
Well, considering he hasn't received your bottles, yet... I wouldn't worry. Some people are simply awful at communicating. Also, next time, wait until they accept the trade request before you ship first. It insures that both of you are on the same page. Was there a definite agreement between the two of you to complete the trade? Your only defense, should the other guy fail to send you anything, is to call him out in a thread after a couple weeks. Give him the benefit of the doubt for now, though.
Don't stress too much OP--if he's cruising the site that means he is still active, and would have something to lose if you outted him over this. Give it some time, hopefully he will make good on the trade. Not trying to pile on your mistake OP--but this is why new members should wait 30 days before they are allowed to trade. Reading the rules and seeing how things go can help people understand the ins and outs of trading. As others have said before, it helped me when I joined as this rule was in place at the time.
If the beers are still en route to the guy and you really value what you sent (and what you were to receive in exchange) you can always call FedEx or UPS, whoever you used to ship, to recall the package. Keep in mind you will have to pay a fee to have it returned. But at least you'll get your beer back. If it's being delivered today I'm not even sure if that is on option as its on the truck already.
