Anyway, the regular IPA (Suicide Shifter) is probably the best beer so far at V Twin, others vary though nothing is particularly flawed. Haven't been to Badass as recently but hearing reports that they keep getting better, the owners are sincere about trying. They're both cozy, comfortable little places.
Haven't been to either although I had some of Badass' beer at the festival last August. I keep driving by V Twin when I can't stop. I've heard it's a neat little place. fuhkyou did give us a detailed trip report from Badass a while ago. I think they beat him up. Badass did get second place in the "best new brewery" category for the 2017 Inlander poll (although I'm pretty certain they opened in 2015, as did the first place winner)
I don't wish to knock any brewery really, and the gals at Badass are bend over backwards friendly but I had to give my opinion of the selection and the beers I tasted that day. Badass is currently in the same category as "Hopped Up". I might go back again before I die but if I don't no tears will be shed.
Recently went to both, followed by 12 string. Beers were very good across the board at vtwin. They had an alternative version of Suicide Shifter, called Sissy Shifter that was darned tasty and probably my favorite. Had a dark hefe that was good too. Badges was good, but seemed like they are trying to cash in on their name already and are asking upwards of 8 bucks on a couple beers. And at 12 to maybe 14 oz pours, I passed. 12 string was as always, good.
I'll be in the Spokane area for work in a week. How does V Twin and Badass compare to the other area breweries? I have to say the area has plenty of solid options.
If you're going to be close by, by all means check'em out. I've only had Badass beers once at a festival last summer, and never had anything from V-Twin, but I think I can predict that if you haven't been to Spokane before and you pass up Iron Goat or Perry Street for either, you'll regret it.
12-String is always a good choice if nearby, especially if into barrel aged beers. Still, I've found their beers sometimes seem undercarbonated to me at their taproom in ways I don't seem to notice at other places where I've had their beers. I find it rather vexing.
I would also throw out there, if going to be along the Interstate, hitting up Selkirk is always a good option as well!
This will be my 4th trip to Spokane, and every one includes a trip to Selkirk. I missed Iron Goat's new place by a few weeks so that's on the list this time as well.
Wasn't sure if your trip extended to Idaho @socon67 but Selkirk is always worth a stop. I also rather like Post Falls Brewing when I've been able to stop by.
Its close enough to Spokane, and I love Belgian styles. Never even had Post Falls Brewing on my radar and they are on the way. I'll make a point to stop in. Are there any good places to eat in Post Falls (close to the interstate)? If so I could spend one night in the area and then drive back.
The White House is a pretty neat and unique Greek restaurant near both PF brewing and Enoteca (beer/wine store) right off the Spokane St. exit. Shameless self-promo: if you're going to Iron Goat, be sure to stop by the Steel Barrel. Two in-house breweries to try there (Little Spokane and Young Buck).
Was able to check out Iron Goat and Perry Street, along with Steam Plant in Spokane. Even got a trip to Selkirk on Wednesday. Thanks BA'ers for the tips. Got a ton of mileage for a business trip.
