Have to hit Newport Beach for work and was hoping to grab a couple hoppy locals to bring home. Can someone recommend a decent shop in the area, I'll have a rental. I know Alpine is out of the question but any Alesmith, Kern River, Bootleggers or anything else I should look for? Also, a beer bar recommendation wouldn't hurt. Thanks guys!
Hi times in Costa Mesa for bottles. Whole foods is always a nice option. Newport brew co is a local spot that brews in house. Crow bar in corona del mar is a cool spot. If you go north on the 55/405/5 etc your options open up. (The bruery, beachwood BBQ, noble ale works, taps the list can go on.) BM me if you like I used to live in the Newport area!
Take PCH north to Beachwood seal beach, it's 15-20 min. Enjoy awesome draft and bottle offerings. High times is great but outside of Alesmith you need to get lucky to get RR and harder to find IPAs as like everywhere theses days nothing sits on the shelves.
Tustin Brewing (15 minute drive from Newport) has Pliny and Row 2 Hill 56 on tap right now. Along with their own Old Town IPA, which is fantastic! Great food as well.
Also, 5 miles north of Tustin Brewing, Hollingshead has Stone Ruinten and Almanac Farmers Reserve 3 on tap... http://oc.taphunter.com/location/Hollingsheads-Delicatessen Close at 8 though.
wholefoods market newport beach. they got port brewing anniversary ipa, eclipse, ruinten on the shelf. checkt out the restaurant as well, back bay tavern.. they have a pretty legit beer on draught. 61min, beachwood hopular mechanics, ruinte, smoked porter w/ vanilla beans, hoptimun, cismonatne session saison and 3rd anniversary..and maybe more.
