Help as in determining whether or not to buy it? I'd just look at their reviews overall.

 

Ahh, so how to review it... ? Simple: Look at it, smell it, taste it. Harder: How much smoke is there? How much malt is there? Do they balance? Do they work together? Are there other things going on that do or do not work (fruitiness, hoppiness). You probably can't pick out all of the nuances (what kind of wood was used, etc.) but it doesn't matter. The straightforward reckoning of the beer from the common man is just as good as, or even better sometimes, than that of the expertly trained. Give it a shot, no one will disrespect you for your perceptions.
