Simple question. What beer release or event should my wife and I attend this Fall or Winter? We always go to Cincy Winter Beerfest and DLD and also any Jackie O releases we can make it too. We are looking for more that we should be going to and trading at. Thanks.
Founders 15th Anniversary Party, Jackie O's in August (no idea if this is still going on, surprised we haven't heard anything), and Dark Horse 4 Elf Party (so much fun).
Shorts Fest is August 4th, from 6 to midnight. 20 taps and lots of food. I've never been so I don't know much about it. Founders 15th Anniversary Ale looks like it will be released at the Michigan Summer Beer Fest on July 27-28. But I could be wrong on that. Surly Darkness Day is October 27th. FYI its first come first serve to get wristbands. Last year the last person in line to get a wristband arrived at 7:30am. However wristbands are just for your allotment of Darkness. Everyone gets in and there's plenty of food and amazing beer on tap (can't wait for Moe's Bender!). Not all that different from DLD but much less crowded and more fun Imo.
You're thinking of the Michigan Brewers Guild 15th Anniversary Ale. Founders' 15th Anniversary Ale is called Bolt Cutter and will have a release party later this year at the brewery.
Thanks Guys! I am waiting to find out the date for the August release for Jackie O's also unless they are just to busy with the new place and getting ready to start up the can line and get to selling. Hopefully there is another one soon and also hopefully the a#$holes that ruined it for everyone else last time decide not to come and leave it a nice fun release as before!
The next Jackie O's release will be August 18th. More details will pop up on our new webpage once we get the blog back up and running.
It is a ways away, but I am planning on going for the first time this year. How soon before the event are the wristbands given out (sold?)? Is it online? Or do I need to trek up to Minn twice?
As for the wristbands at Darkness Day - you just wait in line and the wristbands are given out in the morning. The wristbands are great because your bottles are taken care of and you can pick them up any time during the day. Its nice to get the wristbands and run for a couple of hours of sleep. As for Moe's Bender - I still can't believe Surly drop a keg of my favorite beer right in front of me!
