Veil (Richmond), Grimm (NYC), Marz (Chicago), Finback (NYC), Kent Falls (CT) are all going to get their share of desire in the coming year.

I think Half Stack (when fresh) is one of the best single IPAs out there right now. Mo Shuggie is great too. Overall, they're hit or miss for me though. When they get it right, they really get it right, but Full Stack, Bon Bon, and a few others aren't my favorites (and very inconsistent in terms of flavor). They're a great option for hoppy ales, but there are other breweries in the NYC market that I'm ore excited about.

not sure how big they'll get but I've really been digging a lot of stuff that Marz Brewing in Chicago has put out lately

If they get to the point where they start bottling and get some exposure, Pulpit Rock is gonna make a splash.

Columbus Brewing Co. should be blowing up now that Bodhi and other hype-worthy beers are being bottled

März won't go anywhere until their beer comes in a more accessible format. People pass it up because its so expensive for the mini bomber. I genuinely like their stuff, but few people know about it.

That being said, from Chicago I think Mikerphone could be that in the near future once he gets his own place. The hype is real already.

Pioneer, as long as they perfect the Trailblazer and expand their portfolio....let alone move into their own brewery.

both tree house and trillium could never distribute their beers because of how "delicate" they are. They might be a large local operation but it would be a regional nightmare. I don't see any breweries really growing uber fast today except in places that are already under represented/ served.

I love the stuff Marz is putting out, but that price point though...not a big fan of that format. $11.99 + Tax on a 16.9 oz. bottle. Yikes.

seems to me Surly could take that next step , but they need some more time and a real eye opener or two.

I'll second the Holy Mountain statement. Every single beer they've released in bottles has been world-class and that's a tiny amount compared to their draft portfolio. They're already (arguably) the best brewery in WA which is quite a claim in and of itself.

I've seen some mentions of Mikerphone and Creature Comforts in this thread and I have to disagree. They're both good breweries but have some flaws. Mikerphone has been terribly inconsistent IMO, they certainly didn't hit the ground running and they probably have a long way to go before being considered world class. Creature Comforts have put out some of the biggest letdowns in the trade market in recent memory - just recall what a debacle StS was - and their canned options have been HORRIBLY underwhelming. I don't really blame their traders for hyping it though, I'm sure they thought it was world class. CC is definitely the best stuff coming out of GA and StS was probably the best beer to come out of GA recently, but perspective matters and when the baseline quality in the area is so low it's going to make anything good seem great and great seem incredible.

I'd give a vote for Veil if they were the first ones doing their thing, but I have a feeling the NE style is going to become so ubiquitous nationally that it's going to take some of the driving force out of it. There are already people in the PNW who no longer feel the need to trade for TH because there's Great Notion (with Juice Box) in Portland. Speaking of which, Great Notion deserves a nod as well. Their catalog is versatile and really well done and they have a couple of flagship beers - Juice Box and Double Stack - that will be easy to build hype around. Consistently knocking out an array of adjunct stouts, hazy/juicy IPAs, fruited sours, etc. right off the bat is pretty impressive. Too bad they only crowler and there's zero distribution.

No one is saying that Mikerphone is world class right now, but is the potential there for them to become the next "big brewery" like OP asked? Absolutely. Perhaps Mikerphone had some inconsistency early on but as of late, they've really started to hit their stride. The last few DIPA's and stouts he's released have been outstanding beers.

Interesting, but I probably would have picked Black Acre over Deviate. Deviate does lots of wild & crazy adjuncts, so they have that going for them, but they are a bit too hit & miss for me.

Just one man's opinion, but yeah, way too much hype. Not that they dont make good beer, but hours in line for crowlers just isnt justified.

I think 515 is in the same category. Their hoppy beers are great, now they just need to learn to do sours and stouts.
