That's the last I've heard as well. I wouldn't mind if they didn't bottle Reginald Brett at all either. Would rather see Sour Opal, Parabajava, or almost anything else instead.

Well, that answers the (unasked) question of what I'll be doing Nov. 15...

    El Gourdo

El Gourdo is what happens when the local pumpkin patch calls the barrelmeisters on the day after Halloween, asking if they want some orphaned gourds. Not only did the barrelmeisters take the leftover pumpkins last year, they roasted them in a pizza oven with brandy staves, bay leaf and walnuts before tossing them into a base wheat beer for secondary fermentation prior to oak barrel aging. We’ll just leave it at that for now. November release date TBA.

join us for the next liberation at barrelworks for our final release of the year!
    introducing... sloambic & el gourdo
    saturday, november 15th from 11am - 2pm

It's our final Liberation of 2014 so we're going out with a bang and releasing two more very limited Barrelworks bottled offerings. First we have SLOambic, a wild ale fermented with ollalieberries. Ollalie-what?! Oh-la-leh berry, a hybrid of blackberries & raspberries which we added to our Sour Opal. Our second bottled offering is El Gourdo, a wild roasted pumpkin ale, which is a blend of Agrestic and Lil' Mikkel, fermented with roasted pumpkins!

**Please note: The pumpkins in this beer were roasted with walnuts. For those with nut allergies, we do not recommend drinking this beer.**

There are two ticket options for the Liberation:

Ticket One: $75, Includes three bottles of SLOambic

Ticket Two: $100, Includes six bottles of SLOambic

SLOambic retails for $13.99 plus tax & CRV, 12-bottle limit. El Gourdo retails for $14.99 plus tac & CRV, three-bottle limi. Tickets go on sale Wednesday, October 29th at 9am.

    For Tickets, please click here.

Barrelworks will not be open to the public on this day. Two ticket maximum per purchase.

I know I'm in the minority in not being crazy about Agrestic, but am I the only one who thinks El Gourdo sounds like it might have been better without Agrestic base? Maybe I'm just nervous; I haven't had my Dark Sour Pumpkin yet, so I can't wrap my head around that flavor combo, but I just had a good pumpkin saison that had some barleywine tendencies and was delicious.

Someone who had El Gourdo on cask said it was really good.

How hard is it to get tickets to these things?

Not hard at all. I think tickets for the Agrestic release lasted a few weeks.

not very. the high price point (you do get your dollars worth) usually means they take a while to sell through. I think the last one had tickets up for grabs a few days prior to the actual event.

Luckily the drive keeps people away a bit...I see the tickets harder to get in the future though as Barrelworks popularity grows.
