Ticket/number systems do not work if they are not enforced. plain and simple.
My wife loves anake, one of her favorite beers. I liked the idea of a lottery for any left ovewr bottles.
THey need to bottle the beer a month in advance so they know hoiw many they have. set up a set amount of wrist bands with numbers on them and if you have a wrist band you get in a numbered order. This is if they want to sale them online. if not hand them out the day of with bottling a week before. just like at the airport and such. a mega phone, intercom system or something to indicate which block/group is up next. I have a bad back. I cannot stand for 2 hours in a line. I would rather sit at a table and eat and drink while I wait for my number group to be called. If someone shows up at 11 or 12 to get bottles that is their own dumb ass fault. Things like this are well publicised in advance. I know if I show up at 10am I may not get any. I also like to know if I show up @ 6am that I will get a lower number and get my bottles earlier.
Next year do a 6 bottle limit for the first 50 people then a 3 btle limit for the next 150 people. This would reward the more diehard people to show up earlier. Or hell bottle more!!
I agree with you have to run a business, and putting the bottles away was understandable in hind sight. It was just unexpected is all. Will know for next time.
FREETAIL IS ON THE MAP BABY! !!!!!!!!!!!

I went to buy my OBR bottles around 11:15 on the release day. It was dead. It was in the bottle shop for quite awhile if I recall.

As for the BIF at the next release, I always thought a white elephant style bottle exchange would be cool.

Not a bad idea but it would definitely need parameters. Ie rating of 4 or higher, not available in TX, perhaps an oz limit, IPA's NOT more than 4 weeks old, etc.

Although typical white elephant style exchanges involve paying attention which will be very hard at a FT tasting. I could see that turning into a huge clusterf now once I think about it.

As long as it plays annoying hip hop beats and siren sounds when you don't want it to...
