I really don't see how making it a priority to sell extremely fresh ipa's is a bad gimmick...? Those first two by BMC serves what purpose exactly? I can chug my beer faster with a pop tab, cold activation is a "ohhh shinny" thing. Those are bad gimmicks that do nothing for the actual integrity of the beer...

I think that's fair to say being that this is only their 2nd attempt at this. However, if this continues much further, the idea that it's nothing but a hype mechanism will surely become more widespread.

But hell, maybe this is just my way of saying I wasn't all that crazy about the last enjoy by.

Indy is actually a great place to be for that - right in the center of the state. Not sure why one would seek out stone with Floyds^3, Founders, Bell, etc., but maybe that's just me.

My parents live in a rinky dink town that begins with an "A" in the northeast part of the state. Whenever I am visiting, I stop in *the* liquor store of note, and damned if they don't have a good selection of the Indiana and Michigan beers of note. I have found various versions of KBS there long after they disappeared everywhere else, though I think the secret got out last year.

I agree it is a "hype" mechanism, and most people that are aware of Stone already know to drink any IPA asap. It's great marketing I'd say, and does drum up convo.

I think the great thing about Stone is even though they are growing extremely fast, quality and integrity are first and foremost!! Cant say that about everyone(not calling out anyone either)

I'm excited to try an "Enjoy by" Granted I have access right now to damn fresh Furious by Surly, and within an hour drive of Toppling Goliath in Iowa, so fresh isn't out of reach for great local stuff.

It's great to have an intelligent convo, without hopefully anyone getting too worked up. We are all here for the same reason, to drink and enjoy great beer. Thanks for the reply. Cheers!

I think Stone makes some of the best IPAs around, so I always look forward to trying new ones they release.

The nature of the Enjoy By beer is that it can really only be produced and released to a few locations in order to assure quick delivery. It's really really fresh and tastes amazing. They have some at the brewery and the Bistro, but it won't actually go to market in SoCal for a while.

The whole Enjoy-o-Meter is definitely designed to be an interactive marketing tool and create hype. I think it works, in a positive way. All about creating interest and creating demand.

The proper terminology here is "fresh." This beer will not be sitting on shelves getting old, whether or not people buy it. Plus it's pretty damn delicious. Not sure what's gimmicky about that.
