The next Inception Series release from the wonderful people at NBC is scheduled for Thursday, September 27th. It is a barrel aged Belgian Quad dubbed "Responsibly" that was aged in 50 year old French cognac barrels - if it's as good as Sexy Betty, which rested in the same type of barrels, then this will surely not disappoint!

    Cheers!

They sure are pricey and I have seen their bottles collecting dust in a lot of places across the country.

Yeah.. They could cut their bottle prices in about half and then I'd consider buying more from them.

Yea, the last four "special" releases are still collecting dust at all of the local bottle shops in Raleigh. No one is going to drop 20+ dollars on a brewery that hasn't already had a cult following.

They are $30ish around here. And the main problem is that they really aren't that good. I bit the bullet and tried them all once, but never again. But hey, I guess we are all haters

The only two that I have convinced myself to buy were the Black Betty and the Fat Head. Black Betty is a great BB stout IMO, and I thought Fat Head was a good barleywine though it was lacking in bourbon. Unless a beer is getting rave reviews, I cannot bring myself to pay $20 for a white wine barrel blonde beer.

    FYI:
The Reserve Series 750ml seems to be what most of you are talking about. Retails around $20 here.
The Inception Series 22oz bombers are brewery releases that retail for $12.

    Sexy Betty is awesome!

I can't wait to try this. Tom - it's my turn to open a bottle this time.

Will they have this through the weekend?

No - this is expected to sell out either Thursday or Friday. I would be shocked if it made it to Saturday.

I pulled the trigger on Melange a Trois and was pleased, certainly a well made and delicious beer. Might be willing to splash out on a new release, but at ~$30 a bottle, it's really hard to pull the trigger, I think that's what is really hurting this brewery's reputation, is that pretty much everywhere you can find it, all their releases sit on the shelf due to the high price.

I think Sexy Betty was 40 cases and released Thursday night and sold out Friday afternoon. There is a chance this one will be around a bit longer because the base beer is not as known as Betty.

I think the cheapest I've seen Melange a Trois or other NBC reserve series beers is $17.50. But here in Nebraska I haven't seen any retail over $22. They seem to mostly come in just under $20 / 750ml. Distribution to other states seems to have really raised the price. Several people have mentioned $30 +/- and i saw it on a bottle menu in San Diego, CA for $45.

The way they price their bottles, you'd think they'd been at the forefront of brewing since the fucking stoneage. Their beers are at a price point unparalleled by anything short of the Bruery's top end brews...which don't even see distribution. Now...if they were on par with such offerings, I wouldn't gripe. However...they don't even belong in the same discussion. I simply don't know how they justify their prices. The price of Hop God is particularly egregious, considering how long the beer sits on the shelf in most instances before anyone even ponders purchasing it. I've seen that IPA sit around for months and months. I don't care if it spent time in a barrel or not. Who the hell wants an IPA that old?

Perhaps this is good in Nebraska...but until I can get it in another state for under $20...much less $25...it's simply not a consideration I'll make any more than buying Chelada.

Hop God is still collecting dust in San Diego. I think it's on the bottom shelf in no-man's land. No one wants it, and in a town that prides itself on hoppy offerings, calling your beer Hop God and charging $30+ for it is insane. Plus being dumb enough to put an IPA in a barrel, this isn't the 1600's and it's not going to India.

With 25 new breweries opening in SD, I hope to not see Nebraska Brewing crowding the shelves here again.

You ought to try it before you judge it.

Hop God is an insanely bombastic name (especially on San Diego shelves!) but it's also a superb beer, far better than any other Nebraska offerings I've had. That said, no way I'd pay the price for it again, but I'll be very happy if I ever run across it on tap.

Sorry, based on that $/oz I wouldn't buy any beer, but espically not an IPA that's been barred and has been left to cavort with the dust bunnies. For $30 I can pick up 3 fantastic 22oz IPA's with change left over, and I know it'll be fresh.

Not saying you have to buy it, & we agree on the ridiculous price, but to ding anyone for being "dumb enough to put an IPA in a barrel" without tasting it, that's just, well, dumb.

Damn... will have to price check any future offerings I see from these guys, I swore they were cheaper than most prices being mentioned here & now ( I picked mine up mid Summer in KC, MO)
