We pay $18-20 here in Nebraska. It's a shame that it gets up to $30-$45 elsewhere. I wouldn't buy it at that price either.

The only thing I've had from these guys was Hop God Chardonnay French Oak and really wasn't that impressed with it either. Had it this summer(early June) I split the bottle with a friend, and he didn't care for it much either. I think it was around the $20-$25 price range in Omaha.

I agree at paying anything $23 on up on a 750ml, it better be stellar, no matter what the brewery is.

i think they're actually hoping to capitalize on the bruery's fanbase - i don't think the similar label die cuts and fonts are accidental, nor were names like 'melange a trois' or 'microbe rue.'

i've had their beers and i regretted doing so.

Wasn't microbe.rue a collaboration or tribute...or something otherwise of that nature?

    actually, it was a troll:

"Patrick and I had a discussion in Denver at Rare Beer Tasting where I told him of the name I’d selected for our beer – and I told him it would fuel the whole Bruery / Nebraska fire contained within this thread. We got a good laugh at what was coming ..."

    followed by a half-baked explanation:

"This is a sour beer. Microbes and the bugs play a heavy hand in dealing us the beer we wound up with. Rue is the French word for street. And when you have to explain a joke – it’s no longer funny I guess."

i think the simplest explanation is the best one: he sees the bruery's success and he's trying to ape it while playing it off as a joke. the fact that he couldn't even explain the joke satisfactorily ("lololol rue means STREET") doesn't help.

I had never thought of the actual meanings of the words. Just figured that Microbe Rue was a pun on Micro Brew.

I always figured the point was it sounds like Microbrew when you say it aloud plus his explanation of rue=street so Bug Street or Microbe Street because it is a sour. Oh and yes essentially a troll on the Bruery/Nebraska thing. Only the microbrew thing was apparent to me before Paul's post.

Anyway, is too bad the distributors on the coasts must be marking up NBC's beer an excessive amount.

Do they usually sell these out of the Brewery? Or would I have to rely on a store like Beertopia? I'll actually be in town that weekend and might pick one up. Especially if it retails for about $12.

Inception Series are brewery only and I'm sure this release will be gone tomorrow night a few hours after the event begins. I'd venture to say you can probably find certain 750s of the Reserve Series at Beertopia right now as well.

I still find the animosity towards Nebraska Brewing Co. rather comical. I can't tell you how many times I've paid premium price or traded top notch beer for bottles from breweries who WERE at the "forefront since the stone age" and I was rather disappointed with them on numerous occasions. I didn't get on and bludgeon any brewery's reputation or abilities with my opinion just because some random states bump the prices way up or I just didn't happen to enjoy the beer as much as expected. Relax guys, it's not a popularity contest......oh wait.....ya, apparently it is.

if you want reserve series you may want to hit the Stoneybrook Hy-Vee
their bottle list is at: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AghwqD3d2HHndGdZdks2NGlKUHpkMkhFUWdyR2VZYXc#gid=0
Currently showing The following beers for Nebraska Brewing:
    Apricot Au Poivre Saison
    Black Betty
    Fathead
    Hop God
    Mélange à Trois

If you really want to get this inception release I'd post here looking for a trustee to go get it for you, or chance it and call them on your way into town to see if they have any left.

Thanks for that Hyvee Beer list! I'll have to drive by and pick up some Black Betty, which I hear so much about.
I'll cross my fingers on being able to score some of that Responsibility tonight!

Also, if anybody ever wants to trade for stuff in KS please let me know!

If someone in that area wouldn't mind picking up one for me, I could get it Saturday or Sunday either at NBC, in Omaha, or in Lincoln. I could bring some limited stuff from WI, IL, FFF in trade. Also looking for Sexy Betty. BM me if you are interested.

Agreed. I'd love to try something from them, but I haven't due to the price as well as the fact that in my area I've never seen a tasting event and none of the beer bars have them available for tasting/samples.

I just can't pay that much money to try a beer or the first time. I need at least a sample first.

I don't agree with the Bruery pricing structure as they have capitilized on hype. Mehbraska is the same way without the reputation.
