The only thing that takes my mind off stone soup when its not around is dancing man. The only thing that takes my mind off dancing man is stone soup. There are few, if any, suitable substitutes in my mind.

Weihenstephaner Hefeweissbier is still a better beer in my mind, but when I see it on the shelves in Madison, it seems to be at least 6-9 months old.. still, for the Dancing Man fix, I find that even old Weihenstephan is more than close enough IMO.

I like Weihenstephaner, Silver Creeks hefeweisse, and Schneider and sons too. Something about dancing man though just hits the spot for me. Idk its hard to put my finger on it.

Yeah, I think its the hops that are used, plus it's a bit sweeter... I think the German hefes get more of their flavour from the yeast, while Dancing Man seems to be a bit stronger on the malts and hops. I need to do a side by side (anyone see fresh Weihenstephan around Madison lately?) sometime soon and figure out WTF exactly it is...

Flannery's II in Oconomowoc claims to have Stone Soup according to beermenus.com. I'm not sure how accurate it is and it's a bit further than I want to drive to confirm.
