Not the nicest taproom I've been in, but the best atmosphere is the old taproom that Fremont Brewing had. It was literally in a big garage and you were sitting in there next to all the brewing equipment and there was just one big long communal table and then sporadic smaller tables, chairs, and couches throughout the place. Family friendly too, located in a neighborhood, people would just walk in with their dogs, kids, fill a growler, have a pint, shoot the shit. Really awesome place.

Fremont is great (haven't been there in a couple years, so I don't know if it's changed much)—but I did kind of have to wonder about overall sanitation with all the dogs and kids running around. Breweries are supposed to be pretty clean places right? Fremont is actually kind of similar to Lost Abbey, just a big open warehouse with all the tanks and brewing equipment nearby, a few tables & chairs scattered about.

As others have mentioned, Stone Bistro is great. Tasty food, great beer, and the place just oozes that Stone vibe. Even the bathrooms.

Haha yeah the sanitation issue is a good question. I want to go to the Stone Bistro so bad, I'm driving down to California with my girlfriend for a wedding in October and I told her that we aren't leaving the state until we've gone to Stone.

Have to go with Hill farmstead. Its not as much a taproom as a rolling kegerator in a garage, but what an experience. Rolling up to a quaint little farm in a area of vermont where you get no reception, it literally forces you to put everything else aside while you take in the beer. Parking in the gravel parking lot overlooking a mini pond is pretty sick as well.

Not to mention five beers (at least) on tap when I went, all fantastic. Sitting at the metal counter, experiencing tasters of each while you contemplate the 750 vs 2 L growler debating over the various IPA's ( I spent 15 minutes debating between what is enlightenment vs Abner). At then end of the day, its incredible, people are so nice, and local bars around the corner have the same brews on tap.

    Gets my vote.

Lakefront on a Friday night....the fish fry and the oomp-pa of the polka band definitely give it a classic, Wisconsin, old-world feel.

This. And (in this room at least) it's self-service.
