Literally have to drive through NH to get the beer to ME. Oh well. Maybe someday...

True, but NH has strange laws that make it more challenging to send beer there. Not to mention the restaurant/bar scene in Portland is one of our favorites along the East Coast. So much goodness.

Portsmouth is certainly getting better and better though!

I assume this is expected to be a packed house on Saturday? With the afternoon being more popular?

I'm trying to gauge the best time to go to avoid a line, or how fast the lines would be moving.

Will the street itself outside be open (should be a nice day) with food trucks, or is everything inside?

Regular Saturday's are packed and there is a line to get in. I would say get here early (right at open) or come later in the evening (like 7-8pm).

We will have the patio open and the furniture out to help spread people out a bit. Hopefully, the forecast stays nice. Having the patio open won't increase our capacity though.

Whoever is doing their can design is consistently knocking it out of the park.

Though it doesn't get released until early April, worth posting that Night Shift sent out details on their first 2016 Barrel Society release:
"Rejoice! The first release of the 2016 Barrel Society, Krakatoa, is finally here. Named after an Indonesian mountain/volcano, this high-gravity, bourbon barrel-aged Baltic porter brewed with chocolate pays homage to the cocoa-producing region where its unpredictable namesake resides. We're excited to let you know that Krakatoa will be released at noon on Monday, 4/4, to both members and trustees."

Just posted on Instagram. Their DIPA won't be ready either. Only the Year 4 Stout now.

    For the non-Facebook/Instagram folks:

"Year 4 Party Update: we're down to one release. We had planned for four, but our unwavering commitment to quality has delayed the timeline on three of them. Our Year 4 DIPA is the hoppiest beer we've ever made - it's ridiculously (actually) green and just needs more time. We'll have it canned and ready sometime next week.

Tomorrow at noon, we're excited to release 250 bottles of our Year 4 Stout, an 8.0% oatmeal stout brewed with maple syrup and aged in apple brandy barrels. Limit 1/customer, $18 each. The stout will also be on tap, along with four kegs from our cellar (tapped one at a time, in the following order as they kick):

    2014 Ever Weisse

    2014 Tripel Reserve

    2015 Apple Brandy El Lechedor

    2015 Second Breakfast"

Bummed for the 1/pp limit on the Stout. Was hoping to grab all of 3. Oh well.
Guess I'll be waiting a little longer on the DIPA (next week) and other two beers.

Great time today! Rolled in around 1230 just before things got really busy. Enjoyed the year 4 stout & looking forward to aging mine out a bit. Saw lots of folks enjoying themselves all afternoon. Great atmosphere in the taproom as usual.
Ended up leaving just as the 2014 Ever Weisse kicked, which is fine as I had a ton and it was drinking great! Scored a 2015 barrel society hoodie for $10, too.

Good times at the Year 4 party yesterday. 2014 Ever Weisse and Tripel Reserve were both drinking very well. Good hanging out @frekky

Not totally Night Shift related but the MA Brewers Guild is looking to hire a full time Executive Director. Pretty cool role that would place someone in the middle of the state's killer beer scene. Combo of skills required to really knock it out of the park, part marketing, part sales, part entrepreneurial, part lobbyist, and part networking master. I am on the guild's board and on the hiring committee so if you are interested don't hesitate to reach out to me.

If you are still reading my shameless plug, below is a more formal description and a link to the full job req.

    General Description:
The full time Executive Director will have the opportunity to be at the center of the state’s brewing scene working with the board and all member breweries to promote and protect the great beer scene that the commonwealth offers. This person will play an instrumental part in helping breweries to continue to succeed by creating events, generating press, and lobbying. The ED role is a rare opportunity for someone with the drive and an entrepreneurial spirit to really innovate and elevate consumers knowledge, connection, and presence of the state’s brewers.

    Full Role Posted Here!

    Cheers!
