A little behind on my BA readings so just seeing this now. It is not a kettle sour. We do a mixed fermentation with Lacto and Sach yeasts in the fermenters. Takes longer than a kettle sour to make and brings its own set of headaches but we believe it makes the best and more complex beer than its evil step sibling (kettle sour).

Does night shift sell single cans at the brewery?

So Night Shift has updated the details on their barrel society page. Memberships go on sale Oct 3rd.
Instead of 7 different beers it's 2 bottles of 4 beers.
The prospected beers are a barleywine, belgian DIPA, Saison, and Farmhouse ale. Instead of $17 a bottle they're priced at $18, and with 8 instead of 7 bottles i'm expecting the membership to cost around $200.
I just got a better paying job this year and was thinking about joining since the beers this year looked great, but i dont think i can justify $200. Especially not if 6/8 of the bottles are for beer styles i dont generally like. Maybe 2018 will be better
If you like those styles then i'm sure it'll be great, and it'll be especially good for people with beer cellars to have one to try now and one to age (depending on ABVs).

FYI membership is $175. Which i think is the same for the single bottle allotment this current year. FWIW of the 2016 barrel society beers I have tried I felt most were good, and I ended up purchasing extra bottles of a few . If price is an issue, i would suggest trying to find someone to split the membership with. I ended up getting a few extra's for my brother in-law this year. For 2017 he is splitting a membership with his neighbor, who has no desire to drive to the brewery to get the bottles on in his own, so it works out pretty well.

Fantastic. Hadn't been to NS for a while until the other day and had samples of this along with Furth, Morph and the 87, I wasn't looking for beer to go but needed to buy a 4-pack after tasting OHTT. Didn't have any of the previous versions so I don't have a good comparison with Vic Secret or another variant.

Sadly i dont have anyone to split a membership with, none of my friends are as into this kind of thing as me. Even if i did split it, there's still the issue of not liking most of the styles. I'm sure i can find something else to do with the money i was going to spend on the membership. I'll at least get more bottles of darkling when it's released.

In case other people dont follow Night Shift on social media, they just announced a Barrel aged beer tasting next Friday for Barrel Aged Beer Day. They will have Bean Porter, El Lechedor, Apple Brandy El Lechedor, and Darkling. 8pm tickets are already sold out but there are still tickets for 4pm and 6pm, and they're $20.
