Yeah, I almost included a line saying that this would be a blessing and a curse if it were to happen (with the blessing being entirely dollar based). But Night Shift seems like they could be in a position where it was feasible, for better or for worse.

And I suppose Narragansett technically counts, but I still don't really think of them that way myself. It did occur to me that Wachusett's Blueberry* has some mainstream penetration - cans of that seem to sell pretty briskly at the DCU center for example. But I don't know how widespread that is.

Definitely agree on Night Shift's lineup seeming a bit overwhelming these days, though that would seem to be the definition of a first-world-beer-problem.

And glad to know I'm amongst fellow oldsters

Now I'm off to play with Spirograph.

*not a corn/rice beer as far as I know, but it's playing in similar waters as something like Bud Lite Lime.

I think there was something in the order of 280 entries for " American Ipa" Works for me.

Thanks all for your support this past year. Truly humbled to be named Best of Boston in the Brewery category by both the staff and readers!

I had the Kolsch, it's really good. I don't think it's quite as good as Exhibit A's "Goody Two Shoes", but my wife likes Low Talker better than GTS. Definitely worth a try if you like the style.

Man I haven't had any of those in a while...viva habanera was the first beer I ever had from them. As a chili pepper addict I enjoyed it quite a bit...it had a real prominent chili flavor to it. at some point the heat got dialed down and I stopped buying it..but that was also around the time their ipa program really started taking off.

Looks like a fruited DIPA collab with rar is dropping tomorrow as well. Night shift is such a great brewery to have in Boston.

It would be awesome if the originals are sold as a six pack, one of each. I really want to get all of them but don't want to get a 4 pack of each. I'll probably buy a bunch of some them or just try them at the brewery regardless but if I don't have the time it would be great to drop by and just get one of each. Looking forward to these!

The rar collaboration sold out in under an hour.

I was in line when it went, and most people were taking advantage of the case limit. Is rar well known up here? I visited the brewery in Md. the past two summers but didn't realize they had such a wide following. Apparently, Night Shift didn't either.

That would be a great idea. As it stands, if it's $14-$16 4 packs, I can't justify close to $100 to grab Each of them.

I was bummed it went out, was at a jobsite in Charlestown and was headed there, but I missed it by over an hour.

only know of rar from online/trading. personally, I was only into a lupulin powder DIPA from Night Shift, the collab didn't matter much to me.

    I'm interested
RAR has really blown up in the last year, but I am surprised this collab in Boston sold out so quickly.

Night Shift beers are currently on sale at Marty's in Newton for $9.99. Couple of stacks of Morph, Pffafenheck, Furth, Whirlpool, Santilli, etc in the walkin cooler.

I was at a store on Sunday and saw stacks of a few of their beers. I was wondering how/if they sell all that while they're moderately fresh. It didn't help that these WEREN'T in a fridge/cooler.

Not surprised at all. This release was handled poorly in my opinion. 100 cases in total and 1 case PP?!? No wonder it sold out in less than an hour and left many people wanting and frustrated.

@masterob8 how long will 2 for flinching last on tap would you say? Also, does *taproom exclusive mean it is only for Society members on your on tap page? Thanks

These are totally related, in that as they've continued to scale up, they still have yet to figure out how to match the supply to the demand. I don't need 5 versions of Morph on the shelf at a time, but I'd love to be able to buy at least one can of the RAR collab, or Fluffy, etc. I get there are regular rotation beers and smaller batches of limited release beers, but NS seems to take this to a comical extreme.

I know Masterob said this was something they were looking into, but mixed 4/6 packs of One Hop This Time or maybe even Morph really does seem like a fantastic format. There's plenty of mixed 12 packs on the shelves from the national/regionals, but nobody (to my knowledge) is making mixers of 4 or 6.

Given how fickle people can be, and how expensive a 4 pack typically is these days, I would think these sorts of things would fly off the shelves. But I didn't even spend the night at a Holiday Inn so who knows?

The mixed 4 pack thing is great in theory but those beers don't all come out at the same time. So the consumer is getting 4 different varieties canned between 1-4 weeks apart. And the whole 1case per person on 100 cases. So much face palm in the way they are choosing to do these releases.

Yeah, that would indeed be the tricky part. Though they do seem to crank them out pretty fast and many of them are on the shelves simultaneously, so as long as the cans were individually dated I think the number of people who would balk at 4-6 week old beers in the mix is likely a minority. Plus it would help decide the perfect drinking order

If they did sit on the shelves though those older cans could potentially be an anchor on the rest of the pack for sure.

It would be interesting to know how quickly their stock moves at the taproom vs places like Craft Beer Cellar which always allows individual beer purchases. I am more likely now to buy NS at a place that I know I can always get individual beers at than at the brewery all things being equal. The mixed 4 pack is nice but I usually will have already had one or two of them already anyway. From what they've said before this is an accounting issue only, they should figure that out and just sell singles. Smaller breweries can do it so its not an impossible task.
